The main reason Bradley and Alexander should fight this year

    The main reason that Tim Bradley vs Devon Alexander should fight this year is that it makes the winner a legitimate opponent for the winner of Mayweather vs Pacquiao early next year.

    The excuse for not making the fight at the moment is that it can be a bigger fight down the line. This may be true, but the amount of money each fighter, promoter and HBO can make out of Alexander vs Braldey, is a quater at best of the amount they could make if one of them fights the Pacquiao vs Mayweather winner.

    1) The fight would be for the RING Light Welterweight title, and the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight would be for the RING Welterweight title. 2 Lineal champions going agaisnt eachother at close weights makes it a credible fight for Mayweather or Pacquiao
    2) Pacquiao could still come down to 140lbs or catch weight, and Bradley and Alexander would be comfortable at 147lbs
    3) The winner of a Alexander vs Bradley would be a top 5 P4P fighter. This would again make them credible.
    4) If Alexander or Bradley were at least competative with Manny or Floyd, they would become a big star. If they win they are the new PPV attraction for HBO in the US and theres a number of decent fights they could make between 140lbs and 154lbs.

    The fight won't be the Ring title as I'm sure Pacquiao has told them he intends to defend it at some point.

    Has he vacated it recently?

    I can see where your coming from..personally i'd like to see them do there thing.

    There both developing and are works in progress even though they are probably the best 2 fighters in division although Alexander seems to be getting a ridiculous amount of acclaim for beating Urango and a really Really Poor Version Of Witter. But in saying that i think overall they have more layers to them then any of the other 140lber's.

    Putting them in with Superstar fighters doesn't always necessarily mean they will become big and come back better. I'd like to see this fight built up, let them develop there skills and the story and put them in early next year.

    No he's still ring champ. I would think if a Mayweather fight happens he'll give it up tho. Would have been about 18 months without defending it by then.

    The Ring has already stated that if his next fight is at 147 again he will be stripped. Rightly so as he has never defended it and is now just sat on the title.

    Alexander wins this via UD in one of the most entertaining fights of the year. TBH, I am looking forward to the prospect of this fight even more than PBF-Pacquiao.
