Mundine has avenged his loss and showed that champions heart in the last two rounds flooring garth wood and sending him packing back to the hood. The combinations weren't there but the heart and the guts were, the will to win was and strength was. Not a pretty fight but a highly entertaining war with mundine showing everyone what's up. Belts (excluding wbf trinkets) will surely follow in 2011 as "the man" is back and has once again saved Australian boxing. Haters gonna hate. Stalkers gonna stalk. Yeah baby!!!!! Meh, who really cares, he's going to tell everyone he's going to the states, he'll do nothing, he's a domestic level fighter, who avenged a loss to Garth wood
Defeating a guy with a record that reads Woodsy / From the Hood country Australia residence Petersham, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia birth place Campbelltown, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia won 10 (KO 6) + lost 2 (KO 1) + drawn 1 = 13 rounds boxed 50 KO% 46.15 Makes him a true Champion?
Garth Wood was killing him to the body; what do you suppose top-levelers would do? Or even a next-leveler like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.?
He's a 2 weight world champion. Boxrec hero. Wood earned his shot beating some decent fighters, he's an ugly brawler who got lucky once. Mundine pulling out the rounds when he needed them against a dirty fighter who had knocked him out in the previous fight definately makes him a champion. What were you watching? Work rate doesn't equal clean landed shots, when wood was wailing away at the ropes he was hitting arms mostly, the slow mo replays even showed a huge combo all getting blocked. Low blows were landed and a few decent body shots getting through was hardly a killing. Chavez would get out jabbed all night long, too slow Choc would UD him very easily. Choc would have more trouble with a wolak type fighter than a dzinziruk type fighter.
He's a domestic level fighter, say what you like, you know he wasted his prime, he had all the talent in the world and he just wasted it, he is insignificant on the world stage, well maybe not argentinia
20a87 , how did choc allow himself to be talked into doing that dreamtime ad about garth beating him , jesus we all got a laugh at chocs expense. hes finished at championship level mate , garth was wide open all night and choc could'nt pull the trigger until the 27th minute , hes shot mate . khoders gunna have to pick tomato cans from now on.
You have got to stop sniffing the Ajax! Could you imagine what Martinez would do to Mundine or Cotto at 154? Or Saul Alvarez or Dzinziruk? Mundine has lost it, he's forgotten how to jab, he had no combinations and while i admit Wood is awkward, this is a fight that proves once and for all that Anthony Mundine is done. If he goes anywhere near the guys i mentioned above he will be knocked out inside of 3 rounds.
If and when the full fight pops on youtube, we can go through round by round and timestamp all the clean body shots Mundine took. :good Trust me, there were a lot... Hell, all Wood landed for the most part were body shots (outside of a few stray right hands to the chin when Mundine dropped his hands...to protect his body...) - just as all Mundine landed for the most part were jabs (outside of a few nice hard counter uppers when Wood was diving in face-first).
:yep The best bit is this... This content is protected You beat #2 and still can't leapfrog him. Tough titties. Nah, it's obvious they simply haven't updated yet. When they do, though - will Mundine have increased his points by 260% (up 321+), as he needs to pass Geale? Doubtful...just as it's doubtful Mundine at this stage will ever be #1, at anything. :deal
