Philly is one of the largest cities in America. The US started in Philly and it was once the nation's capital. It's pretty ridiculous to say some guy named Joey Giardello put it on the map. That phase is reserved for small cities with little notoriety.

He had a win over a very good fighter in Dick Tiger, and he beat the criminal named Rubin Carter.

Frazier is the guy who probably did more to put Philly on the map but its not one name alone that makes philly one of the best fighting cities in the world its the countless number of world class fighters that the city has produced from tough perennial contenders such as Bennie Briscoe,Eugene Hart, George Benton etc to world champions like Jeff Chandler, Giardello, Meldrick Taylor etc to ATG's like Loughran, Hopkins, Frazier etc, its the quantity, the quality and the diversity of its fighters that makes Philly one of the best boxing cities in the world not just one fighter.

Watch the fight, not that stupid racist movie.

Even Rubin Carter knew he lost that fight, he admitted it.

I put a YouTube video of the last three rounds in my post above.

It was so bad that Giardello sued the makers of the film...and won.

What a crock of **** that movie was from an accuracy standpoint

When people think of Philly fighters, Giardello does come to mind along with a few other fighters, but lets not get it twisted. We all know who is the face of Philly when it comes to Philly fighters. RIP Smokin Joe Frazier.

Frazier may have put Philadelphia on the map, but the true face of Philly now is Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins is way above Frazier on any person's all time great list who knows their ****. Hopkins is the greatest fighter Philadelphia has ever produced.

Hop probably is the greatest to fight out of Philly, but he didn't put Philly on the map.

In regards to being the greatest ever from Philly Tommy Loughran says hello:hi: but i doubt that an ignorant asswipe such as yourself even knows who he was.
