This is probably one reason why Oscar and BHOP funded the Frazier statue. It will be at the sports complex so will be in many photos to change the current Wacko perception to one back to reality. That will be good to help bring sanity to an insane world. :yep
Jersey Joe Walcott, Joey Giardello(Brooklyn), Larry Holmes ( Easton, PA and born in Georgia), Bennie Briscoe, Jack O'Brien, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Dwight Braxton (NJ), Smokin' Joe Frazier ( Beaufort, NC), Milton McCrory, Billy Conn (Pittsburgh), Tommy Loughran, Meldrick Taylor, Jimmy Young, Charles Burley, Harry Greb and I could fill a page of names but Bernard Hopkins is way up there along with Joe and Larry for achievements.
Thank you for mentioning Saad. One of the most exciting fighters ever, and a champ during a golden era of LHW
You r wellcome. I love Matthew Franklin or Matthew Saad Muhammad and I don't get tired of watching him battle Marvin Johnson with that relentless rally that ended the fight, bleeding profusely from both eyes. Dwight Braxton was something Matthew unfortunately had to deal with when he lost the WBC Title or else he would be fighting classy Michael Spinks who beat Mustapha Muhammad, that would be a classy fight Saad-Spinks but it turned out to be Braxton or Qawi-Spinks. I also love Spinks.
Yes, round 8 of the 2nd Marvin Johnson fight is one of my favorite rounds ever. Both of those fights were classic. So was the rematch with Lopez, and the Kates fight was exciting too. I haven't really seen that much of Moore or Charles at LHW, but I am hesitant to pick anyone over peak Spinks at 175. Foster would have the best chance I think, followed by RJJ.
As someone not from Philly (probably making me qualified as to what made it well known), Joe Frazier is the man.
The funny thing is if you say Philadelphia to someone in the uk ( the capital of the world) They think of a soft cheese not some ghetto stank city in 'merica
