I can't lie, I'm not vouching for anything I've scored in the past. I've rewatched and been surprised at my own scores too many times to truly feel confident in previous scorecards, opinions and the like.

I will say though, I still have no idea who Bob Papa is

He was the winner of an HBO contest called "Everyman USA"; it was like Star Search but they wanted the most bland and generic human possible to be guaranteed a broadcaster contract.

I kid. He was, uh...fine, I guess. Apparently he's the radio voice of the New York Giants, which explains why I've forgotten about his existence for the last couple of decades, as 1) they are the maybe second or third worst team in that sport, 2) I don't even watch the NFL, and 3) who listens to radio anymore?!

A certified badass was The Baby Faced Assassin. A beautiful boxer and a warrior.

he never seemed to be out of balance. he could have changed his ring name to "human gyroscope" and it would have been as good a fit as baby faced assassin

Just rewatched his first fight with Morales, what a fight. Great fighter who despite set backs just kept on getting better as he'd learn from his losses.

    Interesting tidbit.

I made that highlight video over a decade ago.

The other highlight video I did, 15 years ago, which frankly isn't very good, was actually played at Marco's 2015 Nevada Boxing HOF induction but the music was muted.

Glad to hear that you got over that little crush, Addie.

I had weird boyhood crushes on Yvonne Goolagong, Jenny Agutter, Diana Rigg....

( Not to mention non-weird, garden variety, everyday fantasies about Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, Sophia Loren...)

I recall your life may have been in some jeopardy back then...something to do with a trip to America and a tryst with the girlfriend (wife?) of a jealous cuckold...

Or could I be mistaken ?

BTW, re: the thread topic, I had the honour of meeting the great MAB in Vegas in August of 2017.

I was surprised to see him sitting at a table for two with his arch-rival Erik Morales.
I was led to believe the pair were none too chummy even outside of the ring.

All Time Great fighter! His battle with McKinney was one of his best performances.

Barrera a true all time great who wasn't afraid to mix it with the best. It hurt watching him fight Khan way past his prime but that's how boxing is, very few greats stop when they should

Marco was such a great fighter and so versatile.... My favorite fights of his are Morales 1 which was just outright savagery and the goat fight in my opinion

His scrap with Kennedy McKinney which was fantastic

And Barrera vs Marquez...it's probably my favorite technical war ever...almost every thrown punch is countered by the other ...I think at one point later in the fight both fighters had thrown the exact same amount of punches and only one punch landed being the difference...the fight was closer than ii was scored with the knockdown missing but Marquez was a worthy winner

Best name by far on Khan's résumé and one that he absolutely had no business having there. :deal:

Same applies to his 2nd best (Judah) for that matter.

Naz fancied himself the featherweight Tyson.

Guess you might call Barrera his Douglas, then?

    Shatterer of the invincibility myth.

Barrera at his meanest putting a beating on poor Lloyd. One of my favorite performance from him.
