It wasn't until the day after Margarito beat Cotto, literally, that anyone started putting virtually any emhpasis on his 'size.' As I mentioned in a previous post; it's not a coincidence the same people saying Margarito had no chance to win that fight are the same people now saying that Margarito is some massive Welterweight. Just prior to beating Cotto, Margarito was a "bum" and a "club fighter" - it's no wonder. They need justification and lame excuses for being wrong. Oh, and Cotto BTW is now suddenly a "small Welterweight." The same guy who was bigger and stronger than Shane Mosley according to both Larry Merchant and Emanuel Steward. Funny how that works..
I also kind of figured the Margarito haters would avoid this thread, ley alone answer the 10 easy questions. Can we officially say this thread pwnes the Margarito haters Pimp C and crew?
I'm thinking about changing the name to "The Official PIMP C gets pwned thread",:yep but then they would move it to the lounge, and we all know the Lounge Rats at ESB hate boxing.
You gotta be jokin right???:rofl If you're not, then it is more than Obvious you have never watched the fight with Santos at 154. 6 rds to 3 in favor of Margarito, not including the KD Margarito scored that wasn't ruled a KD. Hometown decision. Why doesn't he campaign at 154??? Because he doesn't have to. The big money is at 147. But if your going to use that logic, why doesn't Berto, Clottey, Cotto, Cintron, Mosley all campaign at 154 either? Can u say PWNED?
Not really. Uliuli's point is just drawing attention to the fact that just about everyone weight drains. Fighters are generally better able to do this while they are young. Oscar made his career this way, Mayweather did it for a good portion of his career as well. It is just a natural aspect of boxing. I don't like it, personally. I would like to see a 5 lb max increase to be done hours before fights implemented.. However, the main point is that pointing a finger at Margarito and complaining about weight draining is assuming we are stupid enough to not recognize the fact that 95% of fighters take part in this same activity.
Clottey is like 165+ (170 against Corrales) Baldomir is also 162-166 Williams is 162-164 Berto weighs 160 on fight night Cotto weighs at least 160 or more Margarito 157 vs. Williams, 160 vs Cintron, Cotto Cintron is 158-160 Hatton 158 Quintana 156 Collazo 155 vs. Berto, 156 vs. hatton, 160 vs. Mosley Mosley 154+ The only small guys may be Judah & Mayweather who don't gain much weight on fight night. Margo is well within the norm by any standards. Bottom line is if you can make the weight then you belong in the division. And that even applies to freaks like Williams who while very tall at 6'3" is still not quite as heavy as Clottey on fight night.
What???!!atsch R U somekind of ******? What in the world are you talking about? Do you know how much of an idiot you sound? Pwned again? You are either delusional moron, or ride the short yellow bus to school. Choose.
Hatton was 160 against Collazo, but was 154 against Floyd, and performed much better, despite losing.
