i used to say that alot about Margarito and a few other fighters like Delahoya, Pacquaio, Guzman and Paul Williams. these(and others) are all fighters who have easily cleared a 15 lb gain on fight night many times before.

i have changed my mind though. it is what it is and now i say that a fighter is good as long as he makes weight when he's supposed to.

with that said, the Delahoya/Pac fight is a good example that you can overdue it(Delahoya nearly killing himself just to be smaller) and i hope more fighters do it like Paul Williams and get some balls to fight people who are more in their natural weight class. :good

If he can make 147 he is a WW. I don't see the big deal.

If he could cut to 140 he'd be a junior WW.

Margarito is a little taller than some WW's but he is not bigger. That's two different things. If a fighter makes weight who cares. Also changing to same day weigh-ins is pointless because the same guys would be fighting, just in a different division so who cares. We would also see more weight-drained fighters and that's no good. It leaves a fighter more open for injury.

Really !? If the boxing organizations brought back same day weigh-in would margarito be the same fighter???

Fighter like Herns , SRR were able to make the WW limit the day of with no problem and still have there skill , strength and endurance , could margarito do the same ?

I highly doubt it , but what ever. I thought I would throw that bit of information in there ..

Hell I'm sure guys could go anorexic. I'm sure Margo could make light weight if he wanted to, he wouldn't be able to fight worth a **** but he could do it.

If they brought in the same day weigh in, all of the WW would fight at Jr.MW, all the Jr. MW at MW, all the MW at SMW and LHW, all the SMW at LHW and so on.

    Clottey would be a SMW
Williams would be a MW or SMW
    Berto would be a MW
    Cotto would be a MW
Mosley would be at Jr MW or MW
    Cintron would be a MW
    Collazo would be at MW

Pacquiao would be at Jr. MW
Mayweather would be at Jr. MW
Hatton would be at Jr. MW

    Seriously, what's your real point??:patsch

I rarely agree with you, but you hit it on the nail. I agree with everything you said.

Mayweather wouldn't be a Jr MW. Nor would Pacquiao.

Margo is not too big, he's just tall and strong. And Clottey is not THAT big, yes he gains weight but I don't know why people seem to forget that his fight with Chico was at 150lbs, and he clearly said he weighed himself with clothing on the night of the fight in which he weighed 170lbs. So take away five pounds of clothes, and you have a 15lbs weight gain which is still a lot, but not really what some are making it out to be.
