Both have solid chins, not iron of course, but still very solid. Rafael has been fighting one of the strongest punchers p4p today in Vasquez, he has even admitted that has never been hit as hard before. JMM has gotten caught with flush punches that would put almost anyone down for the count. And they still get up. You gotta take into account their level of competition.
They aren't chinny, but they do fight pretty big punchers and hence get KD'd. JMM really has only been down from pretty nasty shots. Same with Rafael. Either way, neither has really gotten KO'd so I gotta say they have good chins. And they make up for it everywhere else as master boxers.
JM has a good chin, but clearly less than very good. Rafa has a worse chin than his brother. Very strange, given that they're Mexican... At world class level, you have to have a very good chin to make it, it seems. They're both fighting at elite level, so they're well short. JMM would have been the best fighter in the world if he had had a very good chin.:-(
JMM has a better chin that rafa, they could be hurt yes, but by great punchers. They're chinny perhaps but its their legs, their legs can still hold even with the KDs. Its the impact of the punches that puts them down but doesn't knock them out
Both Marquez brothers fought Vasquez and Pacquiao probably the 2 p4p in regards to punching power and they were not KO cold. They might have been KD but lets not insult them and the great fights they have provided for the fans with threads like these.
Rafael was never really hurt until he moved up to 122 and met Vasquez. Austin buzzed him pretty good but Rafa was able to shake that off pretty quickly and won by KO not long after being hurt himself. I wouldn't classify Rafael as chinny, Vasquez is just a rare fighter with a incredible heart, skill and power, and who happens to be naturally a bit bigger.
Yeah, it's a shame. Zito is a cool guy and a workaholic too, but we'll probably never see a version of him that's anything close to the 23 game winner he was in Oakland. My only hope is that he adopts a Glavine type of pitching style, where you really don't need an overpowering fastball to keep guys off balance.
Give me a break! Did you see the kinds of **** he was getting tagged with in all three Vazquez fights? Honestly, I can't think of many fighters at or around that weight division who could stand up to it.
