The premise of the thread, L, is that IF Louis-Schmelling II was held NOW it would net FAR MORE revenue than Pac-Mayweather.

Maybe but i dont see PBF Pac outdoing PBF and DLH in bringing home the $s. PBF and Pacs last fighst didnt bring home as much bacon as they had anticipated.

Because of world events at the time, DB, Louis-Schmeling II would've out-grossed Pac-Mayweather 'n Mayweather-DLH together.

Conn V Louis ll would have been a good fight, in the first Conn was all set to beat a prime Joe but got greedy for a knockout in the last and the Bomber found the KO punch that save him the fight.

A rematch would have been intriguing

I was ringside after WWII for the Louis-Conn return, TC. There was HUGE expectation. WHATTA LETDOWN! They looked like Louis 'n Conn, but sure-as-hell didn't fight like 'em.

    So would Johnson - Jeffries.

    What's your point?

    Demspey-Tunney I and II

Relatively, they're probably the biggest fights in history.

Woulda been HUGE, P -- racial hatred fueling the event -- but with the world on the brink of war, hardly think it would've approached Louis-Schmeling II

...but only as prizefights, L. Louis-Schmeling II had MUCH BIGGER significance.

I disagree. Not just the two biggest names in boxing, but the two best boxers in the world regardless of weight-class. These two guys are dominating the nearest opposition and showing they are head & shoulders above the rest.

On reflection, P, with all the racial acrimony surrounding Johnson-Jeffries, it could have made the promoter an over-night trillionaire with PPV.
