    Area space the ring:

    16x16 = 256 sq ft
    18x18 = 324 sq ft
    20x20 = 400 sq ft
    22x22 = 484 sq ft (1.49 18x18 rings fit into it and 1.89 16x16 rings fit into it)
    24x24 = 576 sq ft (1.78 18x18 rings fit into it and 2.25 16x16 rings fit into it)

    Generally speaking, the larger rings favor the faster moving boxer with the better conditioning in the later rounds. The smaller rings favor the puncher. Standard ring size is 20x 20

    A debate about how some fights would have been different in a smaller or larger ring now has an open forum.

    Hagler vs Leonard. During the pre-fight negotiations, in return for granting Hagler a larger share of the purse, Leonard picked the ring size, and it was 22x22

    Leonard did the same with his demand for a 24' sq Ring in his L-HW tilt with Lalonde.

    it has also went the other way in favour of Bigger, Stronger less moving 'fighters' verse Athletic Boxing Stylists...

    Bigger or Smaller Ring demands is an age old Insurance Recipe for the Fighter it favours.

    In the green mundine 2nd fight Im sure there was an issue where the ring size that was agreed to, but the organizers (clearly in greens favour) bought in a small ring and had it set up, leaving mundine with no option to protest.
    Mundine only realised when it was to late n just laughed n said they pulled a swift one, or something like that.

    I think Ray Mercer's people did the same thing to Lennox Lewis, putting them in a small ring.

    Some of the rings the old terms fought in where huge.
