The Louis I version of Schmeling would engineer an impressive victory over Lyle...as formidable a guy as Lyle was. Max was a calculating master vs Louis and would probably stop Lyle in the 9th round...using that great countering right as his principle weapon. Timing would be everything for Max, and the end would come via a tko probably as Lyle would eat many flush right hands..Schmeling's power exists somewhere in between Ali and Foreman..deadlier by far than Ali..though just about as accurate and less powerful than Foreman but MUCH more accurate...and when an opponent was hurt, Schmeling was remorseless. Lyle's less than airtight defense would prove to be his undoing here..but to no disgrace, as Schmeling was capable of strategic brillince and extreme effectiveness with that compact, sneaky and lethal right of his. Schmeling would know when to lay back and when to turn it on.
He's just confused from the foundation on up. He's also by implication being grossly disrespectful and ignorant about Schmeling as well.
Yep. I'm still laughing about his "Is this a trick question ? I'm a boxing historian and I've never heard of any of these guys" line on another thread. Brilliant.
