I love how all of you assume he will fight Khan. The fight will not sale in the US no way. Maidana is an OK fight but it also won't sell much. At least Maidana beat Broner which makes a little since cuz so many people compare him to Floyd. He just fought the best guy at 154 that many people on this forum said he was ducking, so I think he can have a soft touch after that. Even Ali,hagler,Robinson and Leonard all had lesser fights between their big fights.
Again, qualifying Canelo at a catchweight as a "big fight" is weak sauce for a fighter of Floyd's caliber. Canelo's claim to fame is a questionable win over Trout(who again, just got dominated by Lara). It was a money fight, not a particularly threatening matchup. And all the ATGs you mentioned had big fights against A level guys before and after their soft touches. There's no Foreman, Hearns, etc on Floyd's resume at all, much less in the past few years.
Just stop watching him fight if all you're gonna do is belittle everything he's accomplished...nothing he does can satisfy people like you at this point so just pretend he doesn't exist and watch the fighters you like... If he cared what his critics said about him he would have tried to cater to your demands by now... He's still widely considered the p4p #1 by most who follow the sport so it is what it is...
Floyd's greatest skill is matchmaking. He should fight some decent 154 pounders if he wants to show everyone how good he is, eg Martinez, Ggg, Lara. He fought canelo at that weight because he was a perfect match up. Gasses, slow, **** poor work rate.
I think he's a top 50 ATG, has accomplished a lot, and it's still impressive that he can fight at such a high level at an advanced age. And I'll still watch his fights regardless of the opponent. That said, his matchmaking is what it is, he's had plenty of opportunities to make legacy fights and he hasn't done it. He doesn't show the confidence of being the best fighter ever in his matchmaking, so he shouldn't talk like it when he's not even going to try for it. It's a sad thing to see from my perspective because I think he really could have done a lot more, and still can, but he won't.
