You had to because you had no anser for Pacs ppvs being less then Floyd if he was indeed more popular. Floyd was forbes highest paid athlete when he beat Hatton or 2nd to Oscar, PAc is rated higher on hte P4P lists because Floyd retired, and the time magazine thing is pac being the flavor of the month, a feel good story from the philipines and being so big there. Means nothing about his popularity in the USA or around the world. Again justify his PPV figures and why they dont match Floyds, or come close to matching Floyds in is career. Resume wise. But in terms of who people think is the more skilled fighter, Floyd wins hands down. People are even starting to say the fight is a mismatch. He was. Coming off a 2 year lay off, fighting an extremely experienced techical fighter, and the marketing value for the fight in being fighting the guy who many feel beat Pac twice. Shrewd business move and a fight that would do well to polish Floyds technique after a long layoff. Did Marquez stand a chance? No. But neither do 90% of the other fighters at welter.
Did Floyd really do that much better? He did an extra 50k with an undefeated Hatton and he lost JMM vs Cotto. Consider theres 30mil mexicans in US, 4mil puerto ricans in puerto rico. (dont even try to compare JMM-Pac numbers with PBF-JMM numbers or I will assume you are ******ed). ODLH-PBF did a lot more, then again it was the highest grossing fight in history and was more down to the very well done promotion of the fight as well as Oscars stock being so high after his dominant comback over Mayorga.
Mayweather has really grown on me....You could call me a fan.....I was also a fan of manny, but imo....I have lost a little respect for pacquiao.... If he is so proud....forget the money and the fight.....you figure he would want to clear his name some how? He acts like he doesn't care...and a lawsuit is pure garbage...almost a publicity stunt type angle...
JMM isnt a huge name among Mexicans, whereas Cotto was PR's biggest name at the moment. Counting the UK I believe Floyd did about 200K more then Pac. Morales and BArrera are ATG's and Floyd still managed to do more with guys like Gatti, Judah and Baldomir.
I corrected. I meant boxer. Obviously no one is higher than Tiger Woods, even with his current problems. I emphasized your own words. But it is relevant. Pretty sure you would use it if it was PBF. He was the cover of Time MAgazine Asia. And that article was published world wide. Replace the word resume with current accomplishments. See my point? Skilled - what does that mean. Accomplishments matter. It is amazing you keep discrediting PBF in regards to public reception (like the Time magazine articles) but yet amplify PBFs. For example PBF vs Hatton was only 50k better yet you discredit 200k better that Pac did in regards to last PPV. And isn't there like 7 times Mexican than Puerto Rican?
Dude, no one is denying that Floyd used to be pretty good. He just promotes the **** out of his fights with a bunch of jawing. He makes people order fights so they can see him get beat, then he wins, and repeats. He's just getting caught on to that he isn't doing it against the best.
Danny all you do is keep qualifying the same event, aka spinning them, so it fits your view. If I say Pac is on Time Magazine, you will say but nobody reads Time Magazine. If I say PBF is not the P4P on everyone's list you are going to say but say he is more skilled (whatever that means). It is like you keep making excuses for him.
Why are you guys all talking about buy rates and PPV numbers? That **** ruins boxing. "mayweather has better ppv numbers" So ****ing what?
Plenty of people read time magazine. However its not indicative of Manny's popularity. For instance Vladamir Putin made Time Magazines man of the year, how many Americans do you think know who Putin is? Same with Pacquiao. Hell my dad thought he was Mexican. And I'd venture to guess not many Americans would know where he was from. What you cant get past is the fact that Manny's pay per view numbers dont match Floyds. And thats the clearest sign of popularity. If Manny was indeed more popular his pay per view figures would show up, they dont. As for Floyd being more skilled, im saying that people view Floyd as the superior fighter, even if they acknowledge his resume doesnt match up. You yourself said that Mayweathers is superior and would beat Pac. As for polls, the ESB poll on this side picked Floyd to win. Dont know about you, Pac just destroyed DLH and Hatton worse then Mayweather and a better welter then floyd has fought, yet considering people still pick Mayweather to win, its speaks volumes really.
300k? Wasn't the number around 800k? Dan Rafael estimated 1 million. Danny You missed the point of the Time Magazine thing. The point was Pac was on the cover and had the article published world wide and Floyd was not. BTW - that article in turn created TV coverage like CNN and ABC News. Anyway, you really missed the point. You keep making excuses and spinning everything. I keep repeating myself, if you compare the latest and most current numbers, Pac wins. Media coverage, Pac wins. Ranking Pac wins. ATG list, Pac wins. You also misunderstood my comments again. I said styles makes fight. Pretty sure you have heard that boxing terminology before. It says nothing about skill level. In fact it actually disregards it. Here let me do what you do - consider that the PBF/Hatton happened during the BOOM year of 2007, BEFORE the biggest financial collapse since the Depression and Pac/Hatton happened DURING the 2009 financial meltdown you figure PBF should have done MUCH better. Unemployment during the PAc fight was twice as high (higher if you count for the people who actually gave up). See what I did there? It is my last post addressing you since we are going in circles.
