Cooper did give Ali a tough fight, but you also have to question Ali's whole attitude that night night, let's face it he thought he was fighting just another European bum! He spent half of the fight clowning he showed Cooper scant respect, and even when he was decked he was retreating with his hands down. The transformation in his next fight against the monster Liston was quite remarkable,he really put it onto Liston and his discipline was first class. I always think Ali doesn't get the credit he deserves for his performance that night, all you really hear about is Liston's shortcomings.
Let's just ponder that Wlad was about the same stage in his career when he got KO'd by Ross "Who?" Purrity as Ali was when he was troubled by Jones and Cooper. And he was more mature and further into his career when he got iced by Sanders and Brewster. So, by the same logic as the OP, I guess just about every journeyman through history with a good punch would have a decent chance against him?
Wlad wins if it was 10 rounds. I think he won 9 of the first ten rounds. As it was he did not pace himself and ran out of steam. Purity had an all time chin, and took advantage. He did not out box or really hurt Wlad like Cooper did to Ali. Wlad pretty much beat himself, and had a joke of a corner back then who didn't tell him to slow down. Not exactly Angelo Dundee telling him to pace or clinch when needed. This thread is not about Wlad, but any big puncher has a chance to beat him. If his opponent has a great chin as Purrity or Brewster did, the odds go up. But now Wlad knows how pace himself, and clinch ( As Ali did ) , so beating him is significantly harder. The Sanders fight was simply a case of an over confident guy getting caught early. Put Wlad in with Cooper and it is an easy night for Wlad. Put Brewster or Sanders in there with Ali, and Ali better be in good shape or he's going to take some punches that Cooper could not match in power.
You are either far too young to have seen the fight, or simply haven't got a clue what you are talking about. Only a numb skull would say Cooper had Ali in serious trouble in either of their fights. Fact. After being dropped it took Ali less than 2 minutes to close the show, opening Coopers eye up like a tomato. He was toying with Cooper, showing him scant respect happy in the knowledge he was NEVER going to lose. The KD was a wake up call, then he stepped it up a gear. You can write as many times as you like Henry was ahead after 2 rounds, and if you are stupid enough you can convince yourself he had Ali in all kinds of trouble. You simply won't find many other stupid takers. The only person more worried about the KD than Dundee was Jim Wicks, because had Ali been stopped Cooper would have been Liston's next opponent. Wicks's opinions on Liston were well documented as were his feelings about Cooper being " in the same parish " I believe were the words he used, never mind the same ring as Sonny. Try watching this. It might just explain to you why Cooper being up after a couple of rounds is irrelevant garbage. Even as he comes off the plane Ali is holding up his hand predicting 5 rounds, and he was holding Cooper up to make sure the prediction went as planned. https://youtu.be/DIWFHVZaGGA
