    Regulations today are tougher, and favour boxers health considerably more. I doubt the actual humans competing have gotten softer.

    life is good nowadays compared to what it would have been like, thats why most mexicans are hard as nails they come from a harsh background

    You can make a case for that but I heard that either JCC or Barrera (can't remember which one maybe both) grew up in a middle class part of the city. Ray Mancini wasn't from a poor background but he was just as tough as any Mexican fighter. Vitali is not from a poor background yet he and Wlad are like night in day as far as toughness is concerned. Alexander and Ortiz come from poor backgrounds in this country but are quitters.

    Barrera was middle class. JCC grew up poor.

    still fighters out there that do this.on the haye/wlad undercard a journeyman from Nairobi fought a tough fight with a undefeated fighter for 8 rounds with a closed eye and dodgy legs for a small payday

    They were going for the war. Now they going for the bank, simple as that. Same is with everyother sport. Money is GOOD! But TOO much money ruins everything..
