As days go by since his knockout loss to Tyson Fury, I find myself increasingly worried about the mental state of Deontay Wilder. For years I've seen his aura and confidence grow as he time and again proved himself against his detractors. The way in which Deontay lost is absolutely crushing to the confidence of an undefeated fighter. I feel there are still many potential matchups among the top 3 heavyweights down the line, but if Deontay wilder is indeed the shattered man he may be, those fights are lost.

The armor excuse is obviously sad. In his latest instagram video Wilder appears to be on the verge of tears. He is still in the early stages of grief.

At 34, it's clear Deontay will not get much better at boxing. What made him famous is throwing every ounce of power into shots, which inevitably leads to balance loss in just about everyone. There are too many things to learn and not enough time. Still, Wilder's approach can improve considerably. If he can get his mind right, which I hope he can, he will see that Fury is not perfect. Utilizing the double jab, feinting with the jab, and giving a few more looks will work wonders for setting up the right hand. Complacency in the fight killed Wilder. He needs to go hunting for a knockout in round 1. Physically, he still has a decent chance to win.

Do you think the mind of Wilder is shattered? Is the worst yet to come? Will he be right for the rematch?

I bet he won't show for the III pressers. Knows he will be destroyed in them.

He'll have to. No-one will buy the fight if he doesn't. The networks won't allow him to hide away even if he wants to but I don't think he will. He will want to try to control the narrative going in to this fight and will need to do so to interest casuals. At the moment this is a tough sell.

His mental state is angry and stupid--just as it was before the fight.

I could see him completely snapping and biting Fury's ear in the third fight, though.

That video he put up was just... next tier deranged, cringey, and as a Wilder fan, somewhat worrying. It is so bad that im genuinely baffled how he could have possibly thought that should be posted.

I feel bad for him and hope hes tough enough and strong enough to get it together soon. You never know how these fighters that have been on a pedestal are going to take their first loss like that on such a big stage.

    War Wilder.

hopefully he will be humbled by the loss. he will do some soul searching, maybe go to a yoga retreat and do a cucumber water cleanse, might trade in all his luxury cars for a tesla, maybe he will even join Greta Thunberg for some climate change rallies. we will see a softer more sensitive side to Wilder after this.

Won't be a hard sell to the Brits who want to see Fury give him another beating.

Wilder will be fine. It's his first lost, so he's taking it in. One thing he had for motivation is people are writing him off. He will be a big under dog too in this rubber band match. He's going to feed on that.

A lot of wilders have are how should we say, mentally lacking. They love them spastic videos where he calls himself a king. It sells to a certain percentage of his following

Mike Tyson got bulldozed by Buster Douglas. If he can recover and go on to win some good fights later on, so can Wilder

It really shows the lengths of his delusion If he was growing more and more confident beating the bums he was fighting. He had to have known he wasnt fighting any elite guys

Tyson had an excellent boxing education to fall back on.
