Alexeev isnt an unknown German based Russian as you ve described him. Alexeev was a very successful amateur whose firepower was and still is awesome. He has been matched quite toughly in the paid ranks so far.I expect him to have a shot at a mayor title within the next 12 months. Germany is one of the most important fight markets at present. Therefore, a lot of great and successful amateurs from the countries of the former soviet union as well as other top fighters from Cuba or some eastern european are based there. Adamek won every round of his encounter with that mediocre journeyman from Croatia? Yes,he did,but the way he won that fight didnt bode well for his further career at cruiser weight. He punches above his weight. His punches didnt bother the Croat at all.Whats more almost all rounds were quite competitive.Adamek showed a very lame and unconvincing performance against that unheralded Croat. To claim that Adamek would stop that "bum" Huck is ludicrious! I bet my house that Huck's victim Tokarev would beat Adamek black and blue if they ever fought each other.Huck, too, has pop in his fists, and Adamek isnt a slick mover and excellent counterpuncher like Cunningham.Admittingly,Adamek can take a good punch, and a victory for Huck woudnt be a sure bet,but I wouldnt call Huck the underdog against Adamek. Whoever is able to win convincingly against Vadim Tokarev doesnt have to worry about a fight with Tomasz Adamek IMO!
I was impressed with Adamek last night. I didn't think he would beat Bell because I honestly didn't think he could hurt him at CW he proved me wrong. I look forward to his fight against USS Cunningham.
I have wanted to see Adamek-Cunningham ever since Adamek made the jump to Cruiser. Adamek really has a chance to take charge of this division. I thought Bell would knock him out. Pleasantly surprised! GO ADAMEK! :smoke
I was leaning towards Bell to beat Adamek, but Adamek impressed with his perfomance. Good for him. I see Adamek running the show at cruiser in the next year or so. And I'd like to see him to avenge the Dawson loss at some point.
I think he still has a bright future. The move to Cruiser seems wiser with each passing fight. It could happen at some point down the road. Dawson was always apopreciative of receiving his chance from Adamek (when Adamek could have taken an easier path and made him fight his mandatory) and I think Adamek could improve upon his first effort tremendously. I think he employed a stupid strategy (trying to outbox a better boxer). Even still, he figured something out late in the fight. Regardless of Dawson, I still think Adamek is a forced to be reckoned with.
YO Since when in Adamek promoted by main events? http://www.mainevents.com/roster.php check it out for yourselves...
:good Adamek has solidified himself as a threat at Cruiserweight, which is impressive considering it is 25 lbs above his natural weightclass. On the topic of a Dawson rematch: Adamek needs to watch the Johnson vs Dawson fight. He can't try to react to what Dawson is doing, Chad is just faster than him. He needs to move forward, cut off the ring, and keep his guard up and very tight. Dawson's jabs will glance off his guard, then he pins him against the ropes or in a corner and goes to work. Unlike Johnson, Adamek actually has the stamina to pull off a decision this way, or to KO Chad. The question is, can he adapt his style in this way?
I think you spell out exactly what Adamek would need to do to win a rematch. I see no reason why he cannot do this, and I think he must have been kicking himself in the ass after he saw the Johnson bout. Adamek simply chose the wrong fight to try and display his boxing skills. Dawson was too slick for that, and when Adamek began relying more on pressure/aggression, he was having much more success. He could definitely beat him. As you've often pointed out, the knockdown constituted a 3-point swing, so even though Adamek was thoroughly outboxed, he still was in it (or should have been) on the cards. I definitely see him being able to make those adjustments, and I think the time will come when Dawson reached an Adamek-dominated Cruiserweight division. So it should happen someday, I'd guess. But first things first... Cunningham! A fight I've always wanted to see, and having see a bunch of his recent bouts and given Adamek's performance against Bell, I like Adamek's chances a lot. Should be a tough competitive fight! I can't wait. :good
