Like i said before HBO has certain "house" fighters they try and shove down people's throats and this is yet another great example of it. If you were to watch just this highlite vid you would think Arreola won.
They wanted to show that Arreola had his moments. We all know by now it was Adamek who controlled the action and the scorecards. :good
a couple of interesting things: adamek said he hurt his hand in training when his sparring partner blocked his right uppercut. arreola may have hurt his hand late, but adamek fought 12 rounds with a damaged hand. and, apparently very poor ratings for viewing figures on HBO. only 800,000 watched it. european fighters still do not make good ratings on HBO. perhaps the october HBO date will be different. Can not see anyone stopping him apart from the Klits. He is certainly the best chance we have of seeing someone beat them.
Fight happening late in the night may have something to do with that poor ratings i guess. Wasnt it like 12 pm?
Fonfara won the youth WBC title, and Zimnoch scored a draw in what was supposively a poor showing... too bad. I was thinking he would do much better this early on. Maybe it was a bad night.
I read about it. It was the last minute of the last sparring before the fight :-( Adamek also suffered a back injury during the training camp and was out of training for few days. He was even thinking about postponing or cancelling the fight, but finally he recovered from these injuries (forearm and back). After the Dawson fight Adamek said that he will never be fighting again if he is not healthy, too much risk. So his hand was probably OK during the fight.
i think he would do, for the chance to move his career forward. getting HBO coverage and recognition as a world class heavyweight is probably worth it.
Interview with Adamek from fightnews: http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/qa-tomasz-adamek-3-44252 Adamek quatation about injury: This and a lot more as you very well know. Simple reason: Chris’ people know their job. They could use all the info against us. We didn’t report that for two weeks I had to receive a special treatment for my back problems or that in the last minute of the last sparring session, my sparring partner blocked my right uppercut with his elbow. He hit me exactly one inch behind gloves padding. Couple of hours later, this dark thing was the size of small apple and we all, me and Roger (Bloodworth) and Ronnie (Shields) had the same thought: that’s it, broken bone in the right hand, game over, fight over, all the sweat and tears wasted in the last minute. It got better, it wasn’t a broken bone, but nobody could predict what would happen if Chris hits me in the same spot with his big elbows. ....and about the shoes It was crazy. I started feeling that something is wrong, something was flapping. I lost contact with the ring surface. Began jumping on one foot, not wanting to lose siight of Chris’ eyes, because I knew so well that the moment I start looking down what’s going on there, Arreola can unload one of his bombs and the fight could be over. I never experienced anything like it fighting or watching boxing on TV. Everlast shoes, never used, bought five days ago. I had to bite my teeth and punch back, waiting for the break to fix it. Everlast should offer me an advertising contract because never before have they had as many HBO close-ups (laugh).
Don't know what you are bitching about? They shows the most spectacular exchanges, off course in most of them Arreola if pressing, Adamek is successfully countering and showing his spectacular defense and cheen ... Arreola did have his moments too, while Adamek stand toe to toe in most situations (don't forget that Areeola won a few rounds on score cards). And finally I wouldn't blame HBO since Arreola was their favorite and they still wants to promote him ... and even sell the rematch in close future.
thats true, these two instances when he was chasing Adamek around the ring, we cant blamer HBO for highlighting this. In other instances Adamek was fighting back like true HW and they shows his confidence and great defense, thats how he really won the fight. Seriously Adamek is not very effective at HW yet, if he could knock Arreola down or out and HBO would not show this we could be angry but this highlight was about right with what happened.
That was disgraceful. They go from rd 4 and jump to 10 lol **** hbo This Adamek HL has a good hl of the Arreola fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhHgczHcErA[/ame]
Thats a great Adamek HL, he was punching Arreola like a heavy bag of ****, unloading in every punch while Arreola did not land a single shot, total blow out ... but is that what really happened in that fight?
