I had talked to Wilem (sp) here and said that my school affiliated with Pat Militich's school and that our shirts say "militch fighing system". I said that I was not sure exactly what the militch fighting system was and when I found out I would explain since some people wanted to know. Basically it part of the MMA class. I take Muay Thia, Brazilian Jui Jitsu, and MMA. The MMA class has almost no striking and almost no submissions but it based on a system developed my Pat Militich in regards to using the octogon, using freestyle grappling take downs from the Muay Thai clench, drills on passing the guard while you are standing and instead of getting mount dropping a big wide right hand. So basically its not Muay Thia or Jui Jitsu. It's the time in the fight when neither Muay Thai or Jiu Jitsu is applicable. I hope this helps. By the way a guy got his tooth knocked out in smoker fight. A big knee sent his mouth piece and tooth literally out the octogon and I agreed to fight in the next fights after March. I'm nervous but it's what I want to do so.
Cool, thanks man. So it's basically a gnp style then? Different guys who train at the big school seem to have pretty different styles.
Sort of. It's way more vast that what I have posted. It even emcompasses getting to your feet and using the octogon fence to do so. There is so much to it that you can have different styles from it. Jens Pulver and Hughes both use it but different aspects of it. I had the instructor/owner (who is ceritified by fairtex for muay thia. He is top notch). So it is more than GNP but GNP, Escapes, defense against strikes when mounted. Think of it like this every situation when you are not striking or going for a sub/defending a sub can not be tought in jui jitsu class or muay thai. So a fighter can not just be a muay thia fighter and jui jitsu fighter or he will not know the proper way to defend/be offensive when mounted because that does not fall into either or the previously mentioned arts. That can only be tought in mma class. Everyone has there own idea of what is the best way to handle those situations. Pat Militich's fighters seem to do well with what he thinks aer the best ways to handle those situations so his system was developed. My coach was a bad ass Muay thia fight and BJJ competitor but was not experienced when doing a duck under while in the muay thai clench, he doesn't know what to do. He has an idea but pat militch has a tried and proven method for that situation so my coach went to his gym and learned his system and through luch I happen to live near a gym that teaches it. I will go in a year or so to the Militch gym for two weeks. It's part of being a member at my gym. I will thoroughly document my experience. I feel good about this mma thing. I don't know why I am even saying it but I honestly have only lost hard sparring due to gassing or the guy just being 40 lbs or more heavier. This and boxing are the only things I ever been good at to be honest. I mean I was in with a guy with a lot more expience and went 8 minutes taking some GNP before escaping and getting his back, losing it and getting subbed via triangle and he was a good 190 to my 157. I'll be a beast at 135. My coachs have said I will be "unstoppable". (they just want me to fight so I don't let it go to my head) My first fight, I requested to fight some-one from Tigar Shumans's because my dad went there and fought in madison square gardens and he swears by it. He is a black belt and I literally beat him in seconds. Sorry for the rambling but I had a good practice and I am still amped up from it.
