The fact that he didn't knockout Miranda is an indication he is not ready for a better class of opposition.
He never got any better. He was a brawler with a lot of physical strength and false confidence in being able to stop anyone. Pavlik and Abraham took away the confidence, and he obviously has not improved at all when it comes to his boxing skills He is a gatekeeper at this point. Expect some easy C level fights for him, get in some good KOs, and then another minor title shot, NABO or soemthing like that, and then another loss against a top level guy
That guy is a dumbass. He thinks that if you dont knock guys out you are any good. Plus he is actaully Kesslers left nut.
He didn't go on to be successful? Well damn, I could have sworn that was him I've seen numerous times on ESPN, Showtime, and HBO? Maybe not. All ya'll, that have seriously watched Miranda, since atleast the Willie Gibbs fight, tell me that he has not lost that "Beast" in him, or the "Eye of the Tiger" if you will, since losing to Pavlik (his 1st loss ever, in a BRUTAL fight) and AA in the rematch. Well really, even against David Banks that was not the same "animal" that was tearing thru the ranks before he and Pavlik collided. Maybe he's softened up, from having money now (the rumors of ballooning to 240!!), or who knows what. Before he fought Pavlik, Miranda was the MW Champion Emeritus and Jermain was just keeping the belts warm 'til Edison got there. How many of us felt that way?? And don't lie to yourself either. When the Pavlik won against Zertuche in his 1st WBC Eliminator, I was kind of "woo-hoo!!", only to find out that he'd have to beat Miranda in a 2nd one to get his shot. I will NOT lie, I didn't like that one bit and was so torn up about it I had to call in sick the Friday before the ****in' fight! I had been following Miranda too, because as I said earlier that mo'fo' WAS a BEAST!! Somebody call the ghost of Appollo Creed, we need to get this man the Eye of the Tiger back. Haters.....eat a dick.
Really? Here's your recent post regarding Joe Calzaghe: Being an obvious JC nuthugger with that ridiculous RJJ post, you do realize how ironic that sounds when Joe has one of the most pathetic, weakass, and unimpressive KO/TKO records around don't you? Subtract two questionable ref stoppages of Sheika (5th round on a cut ... Skeika was irate) and Mitchell (in which both Joe and Mitchell went down and with 15 seconds to go Mitchell went stumbling but not down) and Joe has TKOd/KOd ABSOLUTELY NO ONE IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER - that's right his two best "stoppages" in his entire career were Omar Sheika and Byron Mitchell. You shouldn't be dogging Ward for not stopping Miranda.
This is absurd. The two guys who stopped Miranda are KO artists with a combined total of 54 knock outs. Between them they have stopped at least a dozen guys who had never been stopped. The fact that Ward did not KO Miranda means diddley-****. If you want to say Ward needs a couple more guys off the "B" list before he tries to make the big leagues, fine, but the reason you gave is just silly. Sweet Pea retired with a KO ratio under 40%.
Miranda is about like Sam Peter. Both were carefully matched to make them look better than they really were. Both were matched with a lot of Glass Jawed opposition to up their KO ratio.
I think Edison has gone on to have a much more successful career then I would have ever thought. As been stated on before he is T.V favorite and will probably to continue to be at least a couple of more fights. The beatdowns he took from Pavlik and Abe are of course going to have some effect on him but he is still a hard punching, strong and dirty fighter who is going to rip through most ESPN level fighters with such ease that people will continue to think he has chance against the next level of fighter..which he has shown he cant really deal with.
Miranda is this generation's version of George Chuvalo or Murray Sutherland. At the end of the day his record will read like a who's who of good fighters he lost to.
both pavlik and AA pretty much illuminated the talent of da pantera....schooled by a kid with 19 fights...LMAO
