There is nothing wrong with 800 k buy rate-it still beats the **** out of those watered down garbage events the UFC continues to spew out every few weeks for the skinheads.
The problem is that Showtime/CBS are getting the hell beat out of them for the ridiculous guarantee of $32 million per fight to the carpetbagger Mayweather.
HBO continues to win and make better financial decisions while continuing to lead in the subscription department, which, after all,is really what it is all about.:deal

a pac - Floyd fight would destroy any Mexican numbers. even now when the fight doesn't mean as much as it should have

IF this is true (unlikely) then why are people happy? if the sports biggest mainstream attraction can't attract then we're unlikely to continue to see big fights on the likes of showtime and hbo meaning boxing will become more niche than ever. as fight fans we should be urging mayweather to sell, regardless of whether or not we like him

I think the showtime deal adds to the debate
when the deal with showtime was struck, my first thought was that decision makers in showtime are being very short-sighted if they think there are half a dozen fights on the table for Floyd that can net them a comfortable profit
some of Floyd's numbers looked pretty cozy before the deal, but you have to know the fighters who are likely to be in the running after it to see how well it can really do

EDIT : if showtime didn't see pacman as essential to their plans and success at the time, something that is backed up in part by having full control (seemingly) over who he fights, then that is really bad business sense

As much as I hate his cherry picking I'm glad boxing still has the bigger numbers over MMA

MMA will never make the money boxing does. I LOL when MMA fans tell me I am wrong about boxing being better...until I pull the numbers out and they can't say anything.

I love both - I don't understand why a lot of people feel the need to choose one or the other
