Good post, Undisputed. He easily made the jump up to 154 to beat Reid and Vargas, and looked even better against Joppy at 160. You're right about struggling with boxers. Even Reid gave him a little trouble early.

Hopkins exchanged with Trinidad MANY times during that fight and completely outclassed him.

The proof is in the videos...Tito did not show to be nearly as devastating a puncher after he took those wraps away. Its not a step up in competetion either that did it as he was fighting tough comp way before.

lmao some random article, listen didn't trinidad clealy show his devastating power immediately after hopkins vs mayorga? There's no way he used illegal wrappings for that fight and it is pretty clear for the non-trinidad haters, that's the last you hear from me on this topic as it keeps coming to a dead end. Tito backed Roy up, Wright was all covered up and protective for a reason(why wasn't he so covered up and moving against mosley?), Tito knocked Mayorga out all after b-hop and in similar fashion to the way he hit before the 'wrappings' claims:patsch

I think Tito peaked @ 154. His frame never filled @160.

Don't pay any attention to these Tito-haters, simple logic shows that Tito never cheated. If these handwraps were so effective why did'nt Tito KO Jake Rodriguez,a way past prime Camacho and Whitaker and ODLH. So did these handwraps work on certain fighters but not others? ...It just shows how dumb these accusations truly are Tito hit Vargas with everything he had and was'nt able to KO him till the 12th round which shows that Tito handwrap theory is BS.

And as far Mayorga is concerned Tito KO him after a 2 year break from the ring and like Larry Merchant said during the Mayorga/Mosley fight that Mayorga is able to take the punches he can see which was the case with Trinidad who was coming off a 2 year absence but he is not able to take the punches he can't see which was the case with his fight with Oscar so that's why he feels Oscar punches harder and like the old saying goes "it's always the punches you don't see coming that hurt you the most."

If I may add to this topic which makes me sick to be honest... I find hard to believe that all the other camps (ie: ODLH, Vargas, Reid, Sweet Pea, etc) that witnessed as B-Hop's camp did how Don Felix made the hand wrap and never said anything up to that point. To me that's also a great reason why I never believed this crap.

He would've stopped everybody but Hopkins at middleweight back then.

You must be joking, Tito's power was non-existant in the Roy Jones fight. We could have had 30 rounds of Tito hitting Roy like that and nothing would have changed. Ironically, the big difference in that fight for me was in fact how much more powerfull Jones was than Tito !

Roy backed onto the ropes because thats what he does ! Not because of Tito's "power" .

The Trinidad-Joppy fight is what got me into boxing.
It was a devastating performance by Tito. It made a big impression on me(and Joppy), I've been following boxing ever since....

lol at Tito proving he still had that devastating power agianst mayorga.

Sure Tito was a hard puncher, but with illegal handwraps he was a "devastating" puncher. Mayorga let him have free shots, Oscar KTFO Mayorga from a single left hook. Even Mayorga admitted Oscar hits harder....

I don't think Trinidad being a full-fledged middleweight would have helped him all that much. He becomes stronger and an overall bigger man so therefore hits a little harder, but if he were to have gotten those attributes for being a natural middle, he would also have lost some speed of hand, foot, and reflexes. Against Hopkins, add size and power to that Tito and take away some speed, and he gets beat even worse.

Trinidad would have ruled that division for a while if not for Hopkins. He ran over Joppy, who since has fought Hopkins, Taylor, and Lucian Bute and still hasn't been beaten like Trinidad beat him. He also easily stopped Cherifi, who whatever his shortcomings, was a top 10 guy at the weight.

Trinidad was still an excellent fighter at middleweight, he carried the weight well.

I agree that "run" is too strong a word here but the aggressor was Tito and Hopkins was only willing to engage close up when Tito started to loose speed. I'm not knocking Hopkins' performance at all. He fought a beautiful fight and wasn't so much engaging early on with Tito as counterpunching with brilliant accuracy. When Tito starts tiring Hopkins starts to muscle him as he did Hoya but only then. Hopkins for the first part of the fight stayed clear away from Tito and made damn sure Tito landed nothing (which goes to show the handwrap story to be bull****). My only point was that Tito was definately small in size but he still kept Hopkins honest throughout the fight.
