His level of oppossition is staggering, beating 3-4 Hall of Fame fighters and many more B+ level oppossition fighters. There is probally 10-12 fighters on his resmue that would at least have a belt if in they were fighting today.

Off the top of my head

    Pacquiao
    Barrera
    Zaragoza
    Jones
    Kelley
    Chavez
    Hernandez
    McCullough
    Chi
    Ayala

Top 3 fighter all time at 122 pounds (I have him at #2 behind Gomez) plus he did what Gomez couldn't do. That is beat Hall of Fame fighters moving up in weight, and staying at an elite level. Gomez is a top 40 all time fighter on my list. Morales might just crack the top 30. :good

Top 3 at 122, Top 12 at 126, and Top 10 at 130=One bad ass legend.

The losses don't hurt as bad either 1 or 2 in his prime to a man he held his own with in all 3 fights and beat once in another peak ATG Barrera.

He got stopped by Pac twice but beat Pac the first time in a war.

    War Morales

His resume is underrated by a lot of people. I've read some posts saying he is not a future Hall of Famer. Morales was a GREAT fighter and a legend of the sport.

Some people here have a misconception of when MAB's and Morales' primes were. So they count some things against them that they shouldn't....they never saw them at 122.

hmm... some people never saw pac at his best at 122 either. does that mean when they fought each other at 126 and 130, they all weren't in their primes anymore?

MORALES IS AN ATG AND A GUARANTEED HOFER. He never ran, he never hid, he went to war, and won a hell of a lot more then he lost.

They were not at their prime weights...as I have always said Pacquiao's best weight is at 122 and that he has since slowed down and has less power.

And I have ALWAYS said that MAB and Morales were not prime when they fought Pacquiao. MAB was still an elite level fighter when he lost, but he wasn't in his prime IMO. I don't think he was prime when he beat Hamed and have said as much BEFORE Pacquiao was even in the picture. This has nothing to do with Pacquiao, he has enough threads about him. I am saying that the 122 division, like alot of small weight classes, was ignored and many people didn't see them fight at their prime weights.

I had him at #44 when I first started ranking him but that was before his win over Pacman, and now when I look at it he has to be in the top 40 at least. I would rate him higher than Gomez now.

Morales might not beat Sanchez but he would make it damn close if he did not.

Morales was indeed great but if PAC beat JMM...Hed surpass Morales as well in the ATG list...

PAC was also a beast at 122. Every fight was a total destruction of opposition.

Right now though. I still have Erik ahead, just for beating JJ..its his wild card

His win over Pac really stamped his greatness. He was my favorite from Barrera and JMM.

Erik Morales was ****ing unbelievable and he was robbed against Diaz. He is a 4 division champ in my books and should be in everyones books. He is an absolute legend. And what makes him special is that not only was he successful in the ring but he never stunk out ANY fights. Every fight was a war but yet fought with such skill and talent. ****ing Erik Morales for life!!!! ATG!!! There are certain fighters that I wish that we could just clone just so we could see them fight in every single boxing generation, Erik Morales is that type of fighter, I wish he could put on shows forever straight up.
