Calzaghe is the only A level fighter at Super Middle/Light Heavyweight, but B level guys like Pavlik, Hopkins, Dawson, even Tarver would either beat him or give him a competitve match IMO. I feel Kessler was exposed in a sense, against Calzaghe. He had a few really good opertunities to take advantage of the openings, but he couldnt find a way to pull the trigger, something you need to find a way to do as a top level fighter IMO.
See, this is what I don't get. If guys like Pavlik and Hopkins (who are both currently #1 in the world in their weight-class) are B-level, I feel we're being too much of a critic. Only about six fighters in the world would qualify as A-level if this is the extent of the criteria.
He was fighting Calzaghe in Cardiff FFS. He was in there all 12 rounds giving all he had. And he was apparently injured as well. Dawson and Kessler are A level fighters imho. Pavlik and all the rest gets beat up pretty badly by these two.
Dont worry about my feelings...I cry over everything....:| But no, you are the first poster in 4 years of me posting to ever say I dont know **** about boxing. It was shocking. As for Kessler's timing. No, its not good. As for Kessler's defense. No, its not good. That doesnt mean he isnt a good fighter. I feel he is a VERY good fighter....but a limited and one dimensional one. And as you keep proving over and over...a SEVERELY overrated one. You tell me to look at his stance and movement as a proof of his good defense...then say he has no head movement (how can you be good defensively with NO HEAD MOVEMENT!!!! :huh )....WTF?!?!?!? Sooooo, do we argree of disagree??? You are really talking out of your ass....you know that right? And I think you need to go back and ACTUALLY read what I wrote. I am a fan of Kessler's, I just dont put him on the same pedistal you do. I see his faults, and I recognize them (all without knowing **** about boxing...pretty impressive...imagine when I actually learn a **** about the sport...Ill be AMAZING!!!!). Take an unbiased look at things for a second and you will see that. I dont know ****......but he has good defense with no head movement....:rofl :rofl :rofl Wow that is priceless.
Given Hopkins smothering style, he's the only one out of the four you've listed I could see beating Joe. Pavlik beat a contender in Miranda and a poor looking Taylor who should have capitalised when he had Pavlik in trouble. Dawson has done nothing and skipped through smw like his ass was on fire. Tarver is currently worse than Hopkins. I'm looking forward to statements like "Hopkins was exposed" just like after the Kessler and Lacy fights.
Far from it, but as Hopkins fan, it would be safe to say he lost some of his skills and timing over the years right? Calzaghe is only maybe 3 years out of his prime, his skills for the most part all seem to be there, his power is the only thing that decreased, but that also could be a sign of him fighting stiffer competition as well. Hopkins was an A level fighter 4-5 years ago, not now IMO.
We all know that overrated hypejob Pavlik will be exposed when he fights decent competition in Europe
If Pavlik came and knocked on your door, you would propably bend over instantly. Dont get me wrong. Pavlik is good. But not that good.
I think Kessler is a superb fighter, but lost to an asolute super-hero in Calzaghe. Kessler should fight Froch, I think it would be an interesting fight, which Kessler should win.
