I am hoping he tries to box with fast combos and out...and uses his feet alot...keeps margo honest and outquicks him....**** it ain't gonna be easy....
wow that is a bold statement...saying cotto doesn't have the WILL...he got off the deck against torres...he has balls and will as does shane
I think against Margo, he should throw less combos than Cotto did. I think he should go in and out throwing one accurate punch, or short combos. He should use the ring, make Margo chase him, and engage in spurts. He also needs to dig to the body more than Cotto did, and I believe he will have more success here, too.
I think the Mosley of 3-4 years ago, could box on the outside and use his legs to stay out of range. However, mainly based on his performance against Mayorga, I don't think Mosley has his legs anymore. What's worse is, for long periods of the fight, Mosley didn't really throw a lot of combinations but still wasn't in great shape down the final stretch, stamina wise. He'll have to be twice as active, and twice as effective in this fight if he wants to keep "Margarito honest". Personally, if Cotto can't keep Margarito honest in his prime, Mosley won't be able too either. Mosley doesn't "arguably hit harder than Cotto", not at 147. His KO ratio is mainly due to his lightweight days, where he was a huge puncher and was knocking everybody out. Once he moved up, he was still getting the odd knockout, but his power didn't really transition too well on the whole. In order for Mosley to win this fight, he needs to throw combinations, and keep Margarito from working his uppercuts inside. I see him being able to do this for the early rounds, but his age will catch up with him. He simply won't be able to move around the ring for 12 rounds against the size and work rate of Margarito. Antonio is the bigger man, and I believe, will be able to walk through anything Mosley has to offer. Mosley will gain an early lead until his legs start to go and the pace of the fight catches up with him. Margarito starts landing hard shots in the mid rounds, and dominates the action for the rest of the bout. He could get a TKO at this point in Mosley's career, but I'll give Shane the benefit of the doubt. Margarito UD.
Shane is in this one for one last payday. He looked horrible against a washed up Mayorga and this will be his swan song. I hate to see him stopped as he has been a real credit to boxing, one of the few class acts. That being said, he won't go much beyond 7 or 8 rounds and will probably quit in his corner or or not get up like Alexis Arguello. Cotto clearly was far more durable against Margarito than Sugar Shane is now. Thanks for all the memories Sugar Shane, don't get hurt in there.
The thing is he hit Cotto over and over with big overhand rights but never once stunned Miguel to the head. Cotto has an average chin at best. I think that once Margo feels out what Shane is bringing in terms of power in the 1st round he'll quickly increase the fight to a frenetic pace and try to wear out Mosley within the first 6 rounds then overwhelm him once Mosley is completely out of gas in the latter half of the fight.
This content is protected I think Shane will train his ass off for this fight, and feel confident that he's got enough gas in the tank to keep pace for 12 rounds and take this. I could be wrong, but hope I'm not. Shane even three years ago wins by corner stoppage or cuts (not clean KO).
All Aboard!!!!! Shane will look like he turned back the hands of time - Richardson will have a very nice game plan worked out for Mosley - as he always does for Hopkins. Shane will look very good in this win and there will be no Cotto vs. Margarito - cause Shane is gunning for a Cotto rematch himself. It's going to sound good, but familiar when we all here "And the New!!!!!" All Aboard!!!
A prime Mosley would be to slick for Tony in my opinion, but now a days I'm just not sure who to pick. I think I'll take Margarito by a close UD but I sure as hell aint gonna bet on it. I would love to see Mosley recapture the magic of the late 90's - 2004.
Margarito didn't even cut in the Cotto fight, so I have a hard time believing Mosley causes a gash so bad that it stops the fight.
Fools. All of you. This train is headed off of a cliff. Sugar Shane will get the snot beat out of him. Margarito is too much. Face it.
