You could be right, but I am not convinced. I think Mosley could cause some problems for Margarito. :smoke
People argue that Margarito is limited, yet he always delivers. There has to be some kind of ring intelligence behind his method. I honestly don't think boxers can win at an elite level, solely on chin and stamina. If you notice, when he throws his combinations, the punch selection is exceptional. He, at all times, finds ways to close the gap and throw amazing combinations to the head and body, from all angles. Just my opinion
I feel that Mosley should win most of the early rounds against Margarito, the question is can he win enough of the later rounds to grab the decision?
:good Welcome to the forum and good post. Margarito isn't as talentless as a lot of posters allude too. In the Johnson fight particuarly, his shot selection is exceptional, as you say. He can seamlessly mix it up with straight punches, wide punches, and uppercuts to the head and body - all delivered with good power. In the Cotto fight, when the action was up against the ropes, all of Margarito's punches were shortened, and he was landing a lot of subtle shots that we couldn't initially appreciate until we saw the state of Cotto afer the stoppage. Margarito is a great combination puncher, and has the discipline to work the body as well as the head. He's a skillful brawler.
You simply can't write great fighters off, on recent form Marg seems way to strong but no one has ever stopped Mosley & I think if he fights smart he can win this fight. Its going to be a very interesting fight similar to Hagler/Leonard. I see a close decision to the sugarman that will be argued.
Shane last fight I was really impressed by his conditioning vs a 170 lbs fighter, Mayorga looked big and strong and landed some heavy shots on him no an easy fight for Shane people who criticze him should consider he was fighting a light-heavy. One thing in his favor vs Margo he is more savy and resourceful than Cotto.
Great examples, a skillful brawler is a great way to describe his style. He has the best attributes for a brawler, great powerful combinations with some ring intelligence, chin, and stamina. Qualities, that I feel, will be too much for mosley. O and thanks for the hospitality.
If he uses his legs and decides to box for the first half of the fight, I can see him doing just enough to take a decision.
Precisely, even three agos, I don't see Margarito cutting up bad enough to be stopped. Mosley probably hits just as hard as Cotto at 147, who hit Margarito with everything but the kitchen sink, and still couldn't draw blood. Mosley doesn't stop Margarito at any point during his career at 147+.
This will get derailed when the fight is over. I am a big fan of both men but I dont see how Mosley can keep up the pace that Margarito is gonna bring also the fact that Mosley always has been vulnerable to uppercuts and thats Margaritos best punch. I think its an easy win for Margarito.
