I'm going to go out on a limb and say Klompton had no clue what that means. But I could be wrong...

LOL, lets see, I do digital restorations on boxing films on a weekly if not daily basis but you dont think I know why a video would lose quality in a conversion process or what deinterlacing is?

I think Stribling probably did the smart thing by moving up to heavyweight (Im not even sure he could have made 175 anymore in an era of same day weighs in, he got pretty big as grew and was ripped in the 180s.). He was never the best fighter in any division he fought in. In 1927 when he lost to Loughran Loughran was just entering his prime. That fight was promoted as sort of an elimination contest and Loughran seemed to have solved Stribling by this point. He beat him easily and eliminated him as a contender for the LHW title. The fact that he tired so badly and so quickly against Loughran is a hint that he was weak at 175. The money has always been in the heavyweight division and thats were Stribling went. But he was never going to win a title there either. He lost to Sharkey and Schmeling in convincing fashion and its doubtful that anyone would have wanted to see him fight Carnera a third time after their first two debacles. His reputation was at a low point when Tunney was champion and he was dead by the time Baer won the title. No, I think they pretty much made the most of his career and handled him pretty well. Not many fighters who didnt become champions made as much as Stribling did.

I stand corrected. I assumed you were working with film exclusively. Nice to know you're pay of the 21st century.

I work with digital media far more than film. I prefer it in fact. The only thing film is good for, for me, is it allows me to control the quality when I do the transfer myself. Otherwise Id rather have someone else mess with it and send me the end result to work on.

Leon D. Britton filmed the Dempsey-Firpo bout. Not Pathe. Britton was a frequent collaborator with Rickard and filmed several boxing matches in the 1920s including: Dempsey Tunney 1, Villa Buff, Firpo Brennan, and Sharkey Schmeling.
