It just came up short of expectations I think and wasn't nearly as action-packed as the other two...

The first one is an impossible act to follow though.

    Just kind of meh

The fight i found most dissapointing was max baer vs joe louis, Joe was always impressive to watch but max was never in the fight, but his brother buddy made up for it with a all time classic fight with Louis.

I remember reading at the time that Tua said he got tagged in the second round and that was it for him in terms of pushing his luck.

He tasted that right hand and instantly became content to play it safe and survive to lose a decision.

Yeah the Max fight he should have done better.

Its funny how much tighter Buddy's defense and punches were than his brother, who was more successful and held in higher regard.
Both kept that left shoulder high though.

Just Max was so much sloppier.

Also Buddy slammed Louis off his feet sideways with that hook. Impressive.

    My mistake.

In that case, I'll take Lewis vs Grant.

I admit, I bought the hype leading up and expected a competitive fight.

These are good calls, because a lot of people were expecting them to be competitive fights!

I watched the Smith fight on TV the day after they fought on British TV and Smith spoiled well but was clincing every 5 seconds, it was awful.

Ali was throwing a lot of brilliant hooks everytime Frazier came in though along with all the clinching.

Joshua vs Parker for me. Had a bunch of friends over thinking a big heavyweight fight is just what casuals need to get into the sport, been a struggle to get them back over after that snoozefest.

The post Louis era up till Liston was extremely paltry. Those fights really disappoint when considered as heavyweight bouts. It seemed to take a generation for the division to recover but how it recovered!
