David Reid gets my vote..... guy had a ton of talent and a lot of game, all ruined because of that condition with his eye....... just not fair.
Odlanier solis is probaly the ultimate in that he has everything to succedd as a pro but comes in heavy and pedestrian So frustrating
Andre Berto hands down at the top of my list others include: Jorge Linares Vernon Paris Joan Guzman If Dirrell does not make moves soon I'm adding him to the list
andre dirrell. High amateur pedigree, physically bigger and superior to andre ward, but 29 years old and has done not much.
boystov gamboa. His career is effectively done, he is fighting meaningless fights, he should be looking for title fights against meaningful opponents but isn't. He has a crum bumb promoter. Doesn't speak english and suffers from the same cubanitis that lara and rigo have, being good stick and move boxers that fans do not want to see. He is not washed up in the way an old tyson was where he doesn't have the will. You see even if Gamboa wins he still loses and still won't get opportunities.
Kirkland Laing beat Duran and ended up a homeless alcoholic. Pavlik never had the skills to be an ATG but the brakes were put on his career by booze. Bernie Mays also was a sucker for a drink (just read what Hearns and Manny Steward said about him). Despite being technically limited, Ricky Hatton's attitude to conditioning and lifestyle in between training camps prevented him from realising his full potential as a pressure fighter. Herol Graham if he wasn't so glass-jawed; that goes for dozens including the likes of Khan and Price as more recent domestic examples. Naseem Hamed for believing the hype and then melting-down after Barrera. Tyson for being loopy. Calzaghe for bottling big fights at the right moment. Edwin Valero for killing himself.
The " President " Ike Ibeabuchi. Had a great fight against Byrd pretty early in his career. Can't remember his dimensions but I think he was built like Tyson, only bigger. Showed great promise but ran into trouble with the law. Like Golota though, he may have lacked the mental discipline to be truly elite. Another dissapointment for me was Kirk Johnson. I thought he was owning Ruiz when " I'm fair but I'm firm " Joe Cortez put an end to Kirks career by calling borderline shots low and disqualifying him. He was not the whale that got harpooned in the Klitschko fight for most of his career.
He was 6'2 and around 245 lbs. Him and Kirk Johnson are good shouts. I'd say Dominick Guinn as well, he had a lot of hype until Monte Barrett shut him down.
Cotto and his lack of fire in training caused him to run out of gas vs Margarito's cheating ass. He never had a legit trainer until Steward. he never should have gone to 154. he made stupid ass decisions like fighting Manny at a catchweight. he has no business at 154. career was mismanaged he could have been more.
