The most disappointing thing is he could've won.

With a fight of this magnitude and the hype, it's so disappointing for it to go down as a "what could have been" rather than a decisive ending. It's worse seeing a disappointing fight after a load of hype than a heartbreaker.

First of all, I'm not saying anything about the toe. It was an excuse, and I was embarassed for Haye. I truly thought he would've just admitted Wlad was the better guy and when a thread was made months back wondering if he'd make an excuse, I said no, and I was wrong. Sure, it was broken, and it made sense why he kept hitting the canvas, but it just isn't ****ing good enough man. I understand he couldn't pull out, but broken toe or not, did he really think he was going to win the fight with those pitiful attempts at a knockout? It was the worst gameplan ever and it was shocking. He should've been looking for counter punches, pure and simple. He was on the backfoot anyway.

The most annoying thing was he was hurting Klitschko. He could get to him but he just wasn't ****ing throwing enough. it's the last round and he has him hurt and he just ****ing doesn't do anything. I know its easy to say this **** when you're not the boxer but how much more motivation do you need? It's the final round, it's your final fight, your toe is ****ed, the crowd are on your side, your belt is on the line, his belts are on the line, you will never get this opportunity again. And just ****ing nothing. Bruno, Lewis, Froch, Hatton, Macklin, even Khan. None of them would do that ****. Disappointing as ****. After all the trash talk and all the bull****, even tonight, he had to prove something and it's blew up in his face and rightfully so. His own fault.

Credit to Klitschko, but there's nothing worse than a disappointing fight and especially when the guy can win it but he just can't do it. He proved his chin, he was doing better than most guys have but he wouldn't just go for it. And at the end of all of it, there was the excuse.

There were 2 severely disapointing moments in this fight that encapsulated the whole thing for David Haye. First I can't even remember what round, must have been 5 or 6. He took a big right hand from Klitschko 'bang' on the chin. It didn't move him at all. So he can take a punch better than we imagined, and more importantly he could take Klitschko's punch to some degree. Yet he never put it all on the line in the fight and was more content to not get knocked out rather than try everything to win the fight.

The second was the last round where he hurt Klitschko badly and had him grabbing on for a good 15 seconds. That showed his potential to do damage in this fight, but he got it badly wrong. He didn't really get the balance right between keeping things tight to avoid getting KO'd and attack. And when he did he seemed to lose all punching form, that was one of the few punches he threw properly in the fight.

He deserved to lose tonight because he put less into it than Klitschko, and he must have known he was down on the cards so he couldn't afford a Valuev cruising to the judges scorecard. Klitschko was disapointing too in the sense a real heavyweight champion of the past like Lennox or even his brother would have punished Haye for his cautious approach, but the onus wasn't on him because he was winning. It was on Haye, and he let everyone down.

I find it ridiculous that, despite knowing 3 weeks before the fight that Haye would have to go in with a broken toe, plan 'A' relied purely on leaping off the damaged foot and plan 'B'...erm...didn't exist...

Manny was on to something when said he didn't even consider Haye and Booth as professionals

I didn't think he had him out of there like some people did in the 12th, but it showed he could **** him up and should've done what Froch was talking about. Keep the pressure on him early and make it his fight, because he could take his punches, but he didn't. He made it Klitschko's fight and he lost it.

And it wasn't a great fight. I can't believe Sky were actually saying that. You've got our money, stop lying.

The people who picked Haye are gonna be far, far harsher on him than the rest ;)

Haye was never gonna go 'balls an all'.

It was always gonna be a rush job.

It was clear to see Haye was having trouble walking forwards to land and press and was also clear to see Haye was having trouble with his balance.

People can say what they want, but if you are injured then your injured, that toe did look broken to me. If that was the case of course it will have an effect on Haye's performance vs Wlad you need to be 110% ready any less for the smaller guy won't do.

I think Haye done good job slipping the jab, but for some reason did not jump in the right way to counter the jab at times when he did Wlad would step back but Haye needed to press more at that point with more punches which normally would do, something was just not right fir him tonight, could be the toe could be.

I know man, but he took it to extremes tonight. Funnily enough I think the lack of technique in his punching tonight hurt him more than the output even. He had the power to hurt Klitschko as was evident in the last round but too often he was putting far too much into those single shots and losing technique. You can't often knock people out by throwing every shot like you're trying to knock them out. It's got to be a bit more natural than that.

I think Haye pretty much did what I envisioned tactically and stylistically, not much surprised me about the fight. I didn't think Klitschko was that successful either, his jab was the least effective its been in a LONG time and he didn't land a lot. He just landed more, not a lot. The thing that made the difference was Klitschko was harder to hit than I expected, a combination of underrating how awkward it is to hit Klitschko when he pulls back, and the fact Haye's offense wasn't good and perhaps overrated by me.

Seriously, Haye could have been given the fight on points, i've seen plenty of fighters given it for doing less.

You'd all be chirping a different sound then. It's strange how it goes.

Haye did enought to win in England, but not enough in Germany and that's the terrible state of the game, well to be truthful, has always been the game.

Rob, I'd love to agree with you, but no. Haye didn't do enough to win anywhere. This was nothing like the Valuev fight where he was landing 5 punches to Valuev's 0. Wlad was landing. Not a lot, not much overly substantial, but enough to sweep the rounds when Haye was doing very little and missing when he did throw.

Haye was just rubbish. This thing about a broken toe is utter shite,I doubt many people will listen to his tale of the broken toe costing him the fight. He just was not up to the job,he has to accept it as do his fans.He looked clueless right from the off,he hurt Wlad now and then but not enough to back him up and as Haye himself said"its not tickling"Wlad expected to be hit hard, its a fight, its part of his job.
Haye has made a fool of himself,he insulted a dignified ambassador for the sport repeatedly and failed big time to deliver on his threats.Wlad had nothing to prove,Haye on the biggest night of his life did not really try because he was frightened of getting knocked out in the process. He settled for getting to the final bell,he should come on sky tomorrow and spend as much time as he did insulting Wlad and boasting what he would do to him, saying sorry to the people who payed for the fight.

Yip, pretty much. Apart from about three or four times, Hayes right hands were all lunges, with his feet off the floor a lot of the time. It was amateurish and sloppy.

Haye negated the jab a lot more than he was given credit for. The jab didn't win the fight for Wlad, his distance control and ring generalship did that.

If I had known how 'few' jabs Wlad would land, I would have had a lot of money on Haye.

I can't agree, Manny was clearly having kittens and thought Wlad was on much of the losing end of that fight.

I know I'm very much in the minority but I thought it wad jenuinlys pretty close and though Haye may well get the decision.

Based on scoring that Hagler beats SRL.

I can't agree, Manny was clearly having kittens and thought Wlad was on much of the losing end of that fight for pretty much all of it.

I know I'm very much in the minority but I thought it pretty close.

Based on that type of scoring, Hagler easily beat SRL.
