AJ Ruiz is probably up there. Not that Ruiz is that bad a fighter, just the contrasting physiques and the fact it was a prolonged beat down
Far and away Pongsaklek Wonjongkam losing to Sonny Jaro. Jaro was arguably not even a journeyman any more and had lost to a 4-0 prospect the year before - Giovani Segura had blasted him out in one round a couple of years before that. Wonjongkam was regarded as the best flyweight in the world, and the best flyweight champion in maybe decades. Jaro blasted him out in six rounds, it was absolutely one of the craziest things I have ever seen.
Joshua vs RUIZ is the most embarrassing loss in the history of boxing Joshua is built like a greek god and he quit against jabba the hut, absolute pathetic !! Nobody will ever top this
Easily Ruiz Joshua. Losing like that to a man who couldn’t even stun the ghost of Liakhovich, one of the most vulnerable heavyweights in recent times, was terrible. It’s the most embarrassing loss in the history of boxing.
AJ Ruiz by a mile. Not because Ruiz is bad but because AJ was introduced to the US market as the second coming of Muhammad Ali. He was on talk shows, sports shows and even rang the trading bell at Wall Street. The fact that he had a church choir singing at his weigh in always makes me chuckle.
I've got to go with AJ - Ruiz... I mean: It was AJ's big reveal in the US, trampolining him to mega fights over there in the future The physique differences - yes yes I know physiques don't mean anything in boxing but still... The expectations behind AJ - he was expected to put on a great show The manner of the beatdown. OK, AJ put Ruiz down in round 3 and he didn't start badly. But man oh man, what a beatdown he received. The manner he was stopped. Did or didn't he quit? Hard to say to be honest, but it was embarrassing nonetheless, to me he looked like he wanted out of that ring and was giving the ref the excuse he needed to stop it.
I'm not sure how you think it’s hard to say. He obviously did give up, after he took a battering. Usyk will knock him out this time.
Everyone’s already said it, but it really is Joshua vs Ruiz. Joshua’s reputation still hasn’t recovered from it 3 years later.
I dont think it will ever recover. A guy like AJ losing to a guy thats looks like that will forever be laughable. Even if he had blasted Ruiz out of there ik the rematch. It wasnt a Lewis vs Rahman type defeat either but a vicious beatdown. I sometimes rewatch round 3 since its hilarious. Aj looking to stop Ruiz then suddenly mexican Homer Simpson goes supersaiyan and starts destroying him. People couldnt believe their eyes.
