Honestly, when I watched that fight live, I thought I had witnessed a miracle. Something impossible. Literally, probably every person on this planet who knew aout that fight was to some degree fearful for the safety of Evander Holyfield, more or less. Borges became a legend for picking Holyfield. When Evander was talking about 'God' and 'Jesus' after the fight people took that seriously. They were like "..Damn, maybe Jesus did help him!?.." Religion got a big boost. It was insane.

Ah, now I see EpsilonAxis' point about Holy being considered "done".

How can anyone explain Borges' perdiction then? Did he do it cause he really believed it, or was it just to look "special" if he got it right and everyone else wrong?

Borges definately believed it and had reasoning to go along with it. He claimed that he knew that Tyson would go belly up once he realized Holyfield wouldn't be intimidated and wouldn't back down. Tyson was a "bully" and he would fit the traditional bully framework - Borges was right, but he took a very long shot on that one. Borges was given a ton of credit for that pick. The prevailing view is that he was smarter than everyone else and not merely lucky. I don't agree myself, however.

    Interesting stuff :D

When I watched the fight (not live of course), I noticed two things: First, I didn't like the way Tyson was fighting, letting Evander clinch him all the time and push him. Second, Holyfield looked legitimately stronger than Mike, and that's what shocked me the most.

Thanx for the educative posts :thumbsup

Nothing beats Corrales vs Castillo. That fight was so amazing. Just watch James Toney and Winky Wright going ape**** in the crowd was hilarious.
