I always thought Ward-Gatti I and III were pretty epic.

I hope I'm not getting tiring with this :D

One last thing about Borges, I've seen him on TV and I gotta say he doesn't seem a likeable guy, seems very arrogant to me.

Why don't you agree with the credit he got?

I agree, he's a blowhard, although he has my respect. His picks since then make it pretty clear he's just as clueless as the next guy. If he was a genuis, for example, he would have picked Margarito over Cotto. That's a fight where the intangibles won out - but he missed the mark badly.

He really picked Cotto over Margarito???

I wanted Cotto to win, but deep inside I knew his chances were slim :|

Borges picked Cotto by stoppage. Here was his prediction:

“Cotto by late stoppage on cuts. Margarito will have his moments and may even hurt Cotto at some point but his superior movement, jab and technical skills will break Margarito down and, eventually, wear him down and wear him out.”

You can see by the "cuts" aspect that Borges really tries to get elaborate in situations where it may not be called for. He's Mr. Clever himself. Cotto on cuts - yeah.. :rofl

That was a pretty shitty predicition :yep

I had no problem with people picking Cotto to win, hell I even wanted him to win myself (put I expected Margo to beat him).

But people picking Cotto BY STOPPAGE???

And imagine he's a well known boxing writer:-(

Aye, the stoppage part.. This is where we seperate those somewhat slightly off the mark, and those with their heads burried firmly up their asses. Indeed.

Gotta go with Holyfield v Tyson I. Jack Johnson v James Jeffries comes in 2nd. As a matter of fact, I must include Holyfield v Tyson II because everybody knows about the famous ear biting incident, even if they never saw the fight.

Nothing beats the Thrilla in Manilla for sure epic-ness (if that's even a word). It was the pure boxing head hunter vs the ruthless body puncher until the bitter end.

One that has escaped mention as yet is the first Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard fight. It was the pinnacle of Duran's fighting career. No one believed he could defeat Sugar Ray Leonard so he set out to prove them wrong. Sugar Ray Leonard was considered a pretty boy and a media creation - but Duran so incensed him that he set out to prove everyone wrong by going mano y mano and toe to toe with the legendary Hands of Stone.

Of the ones mentioned I will second all of the following:

Jose Luis Castillo vs Chico Corralles I
Julio Cesar Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor I
Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward I
    Ali vs Frazier I
Chacon/Lamon 4 (almost any fight Chacon, Lamon, and Boza Edwards were involved in during the 80's was an instant classic.)
    Salvador Sanchez vs Azumah Nelson
Alexis Arguello vs Aaron Pryor I
Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs Hitman Thomas Hearns
Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs Sugar Ray Leonard
Sugar Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hitman Hearns I
    Tito Trinidad vs Fernando Vargas
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Eric Morales I
Israel Vazquez vs Raphael Marquez III

and yeah - Holyfield/Tyson I was pretty epic. For the record - I picked Holyfield and no one believed me either.
