look at the fear in Alex Stewarts face, when they are called to the center of the ring. Mike Tyson had that sadistic look on his face, just all came natural to him. He was not even looking at Stewart, and still Steward was tense. [yt]SWTHln1tjcQ[/yt]
Golota. Menacing to some degree and just... well... unpredictable. I'd honestly rather have Tyson blast me out then Golota ruin me. He beat Bowe quasi-******ed and retired him. He beat Corey Sander's so badly he went blind in one eye in one of the bloodiest HW match-up's in recent history. His beating of McBride was a career ender as well. He hit hard, but not in an explosive manner that would spark a fighter. Prolonged beatings were the order of the day.
I wasn't around for Liston, so for me it has to be Tyson. The guy made seasoned pros quake with fear. Spinks, Bruno, Steward and Seldon... they looked paralyzed. Even when far past his prime he had an affect on his opponents. He just brought this menace.
Yeh he was a sick man, skitzo. The second Riddock Bowe fight was Sadistic. Good battle aswell. Riddick Bowe was weight drainned, and Golota made him pay badly.
Also.. I believe Lennox Lewis was underrated in this department....... Lennox Lewis seemed to have a split personality, i always knew when Lennox Lewis was gonna go all "skitzo" he had that same look, Linford Christie used to have on the starting line of the 100m. PMA. He had this look, just before he fought Golota and Shannon Briggs.
Eh, it wasn't like Golota was trying to torture fighters. He simply didn't hit hard enough to get them out of there, not like Bowe wasn't ungodly tough anyway. He hit him low out of desperation. He was obviously trying to end the fight before that, and when he couldn't...
Absolutely. He was almost eerie the way he was so cool before a fight, like the calm before the storm. Just had that look of business, totally emotionless, no hype, anger or fear. Ali is another that is underestimated in this catergory, his total self belief had opponents questioning their place in the ring with him at times
For all his ugly looks and intimidating aura, McVea- according to many accounts- fought a retreating style with much clinching. My vote is Darren Van Horn.
It's a three way tie between Sven Ottke, Paulie Malignaggi and Joey Gamache, with Darren Van Horn getting honorable mention.
