That's because he's old and shot and is fighting beyond his expiry date. That would be the case for virtually every fighter if they did the same. Should have quit a long time ago.

He won't be remebered by his Chisora fight, he's remembered by his actions in the Potter fight or the punches he took off tyson in the first two rounds.

Britains own Phainting Phil Scott , this guy would go over when a shot missed him , never mind when he was hurt :

" ‘Phainting’ Phil Scott was a notorious 1920’s British heavy who used to like to collapse when hit, claiming a low blow. His favoured tactic was to leap into the air when a body punch was thrown, thus making the punch land low, and then laying on the canvas writhing in such agony that any leading thespians of the day would have been proud of his display of acting! He won an amazing SIX fights by disqualification, but finally came up short up against future World Champion Jack Sharkey. Scott did his usual dying swan act in the third round, but he’d cried foul once too often, Sharkey was awarded the win on a TKO, and Scott went on to be KO’d in his last two fights, both in the second round "

That's probably the worst list you could possibly make. Six of those guys have zero mental issues, four of them have won fights on shear toughness and the will to win, and two of them are among the toughest men in boxing today!

Perhaps not in the ring but Floyd used to take a disguise kit to every fight with him in case he lost.

He'd shove it on and escape out the back way!

    True!

Yeah guys like Tyson and Zab took some beatings like a man, so in that regard they aren't mentally weak. But showing toughness in getting beat up and showing toughness in getting beat yet still coming back to win are two different things, and tyson and zab never did come back to win when facing true adversity.

To me a real mentally strong fighter is not someone who can take a beating like a man but someone who can be on the ropes and still find a way to win.

Amazing how in the lead up to the fight everyone was saying how dangerous Zab is and how much of a real test it is for Khan who is finally facing some class. Now all i see is how Zab is mentally weak, past it, never any good.

    Results orientated much??

Saying something about quitting in a moment of panic, and actually quitting are two different things. Neither of the fighters you mentioned have an established pattern of looking for a way out.

I think you got to be mentally strong to even get in the canvas.

that's half the battle. other half is knowing what to do once you get punched.

    :deal

If anything, it proves their heart, they may feel like giving up, but not doing so speaks volumes. Both Shane and Pavlik pushed through when they were in deep trouble.

Big difference between saying something and doing it. :good
