Well Foreman and Liston both had chances to beat Ali/Clay and couldn't come close so you can scratch them off the list of people who might've beaten him for a start.
Don't use any other fighters to help mask your true agenda here. You're just another bitter and twisted Duran apologist that's still bitter over the great Sugar Ray Leonard thoroughly exposing your idol and ripping his image to shreds.
I really start laughing at people who; a) make excuses for Duran's No Mas loss b) make excuses for Leonard's Montreal loss Two of the best fighters that ever lived clashed in 1980, they were both able to beat one another, credit to anyone whowins their fight, that is it:good
Actually, you're right. Whitaker's 80's work makes it hard for me to say that now. In retrospect Whitaker was declining a bit after McGirt(?) and maybe it's unfair to put him next to Roy at that time.
I guess because Hearns has been beaten by such stellar fighters as Iran Barkley and Uriah Grant he is judged less harshly. All but one of Duran's losses came after his 71st fight. Hearns only lasted for 67 fights. So, I guess He is over rated too.
Jack Dempsey has been mentioned the most in this thread by far. I think this being the Classic forum, that is saying something. Even the wrinkled ones admit it.
Dempsey was terrible at cutting off the ring, Burt, watch the video below, he just follows, your saying how did he KO. so many people if he did'nt know how to cutt off the ring but he Knocked out Carpentier in the centre of the ring, and in the Willard fight he cornered Jess by pushing him to the ropes while in a clinch. not by cutting the ring off, the fact is that Dempsey was clueless at cutting of the ring he would just follow, and thast his biggest flaw as a fighter. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vow5XgK5T2A[/ame] And I really wish Dempsey was as great he is made out to be, because I do like him and I do rate him as a fighter and thats the truth, but his record and the footage show that he wasn't as great as he's made out to be, he does'nt make my top ten, and I don't see why he gets rated ahead of Ezzard Charles and Mike Tyson, Mike Tyson (who can be overrated also depnding on the person you talk too) Has a better record and is a better fighter Hd 2 HD, watch how Mike cuts the ring of here, thats how you cut the ring off, plus he show better skils and technic. defo more skilled, not sure if I would use the word 'better' but I'm not exactly proetesting, it's an interesting one for me
i can see the question behind it but he's probably more skilled and definitely rated higher almost universally.
