Of Pepe's list, I would only question the Zyglewicz-Frazier and Foreman-Roman fights as completely pointless. Zyglewicz, if nothing else, was a tough guy with a pretty solid punch and was believed to be able to take a punch before Frazier coldcocked him. Roman, whom I have actually seen fight previous to the Foreman fight, was much better than he looked against Foreman and had some defensive skills and veteran caginess not unlike Peralta. It was testimony to how far both Frazier and Foreman developed that they blew these guys away so easily.

The Frank-Holmes fight was interesting only because virtually no one knew anything about Frank and he was a live underdog just because he was such an unknown quantity at the time. Unless you were in New Jersey and hung around the ice rink where he had most of his fights, that is.

Floyd Patterson vs. Tommy Jackson II

Was 'pointless' as everybody knew Tommy 'The Hurricane' was a shot fighter.

Tommy was a good guy, and that's what got him a chance as Floyd's
    first title defense opponent.
