Toney was a cruiserweight by the time calzaghe was about, hopkins turned down fighting calzaghe and so did jones until he lost and then he was happy to fight joe when he was past it.
It would have been and hand on heart a prime jones I think would of beat calzaghe but not to sure about toney. I would love to have seen Jones in the Ring with benn and eubank in their prime?
Calazghe hasn't made the big fights he could have had due to him coming along about 3 years to late, and then the likes of hopkins ducking him and jones not wanting to fight him for 3 or 4 million when he got that for fighting milkmen.
See I have never took much notice of calzaghe, I would always prefer to watch hatton and naz in his prime because there was no one better. Naz is the perfect example of the ingle style working.
I don't think Jones ever said he didn't want to fight him, what he actually said would have been more along the lines of "why the **** should I, the undisputed 175 champion and P4P number 1 fighter on the planet fight the tin-pot WBO 168 champion?" Which in all fairness you couldn't blame him for, especially as he'd have probably have to have gone to Wales to administer the beating. Hmmm....Florida or Wales....tough choice!
:yikes :yikes :yikes :yikes :yikes I must have missed that, what utter bollocks is being talked about Calzaghe these days.
I presume all Calzaghes opponents were so rich that none of them had day jobs then? Be careful on this question.... I can sort of understand the blind ignorance that leads to the Calzaghe sack-swinging, but disrespecting the best fighter of his generation is just moronic to the extreme. Of course Joe would have beaten Roy, he beat the might Kessler, right? atsch
