Well then it's almost the same thing. Floyd fought at 130/135 for the longest time. And in two years went to 147. Still very small and only weighed 147 on fight night.

    Margo called a smaller man.

They are both welters, and Margo has every right to challenge anyone who claims to be a welter in the division.

My problem is with the Margo nuthuggers, the ones that think Margo is this powerful iron chinned monster at welter. They should realize, he is so powerful at welter because he is essentially a middleweight fighting at welter or at the very least a light middleweight. Who drains before the weight in then bulks back up to 160 before the fight. As to why little Cotto had such trouble hurting Margarito.

Vitali is far more intimidating that margarito.

There is basically no one at all in the heavyweight division who have a chance at beating Vitali.

Where as with Margarito he recently lost to Williams and there are a few who could give him a good fight.

The world isn't only made up of nuthuggers and haters. There's a third group and it's actually a majority: Clear-headed fans.

    A) Margarito is a powerful, iron chinned monster at welter. That's a fact because he fights at welter, he's powerful and he has an incredibly durable chin.

    B) But he's not a middleweight. He's a welterweight and has been his whole career. Sure, he's a big welterweight, but that's irrelevant. You could even make a case that a bigger framed guy squeezing into a lower weight class drains him. That was certainly true when I wrestled in HS.

    C) He might "bulk up" before the fights, but most of that is water weight. You don't seriously believe he's putting on any usable mass, like muscle in a day or two?

Bottom line is he's a WW. How he gets there is up to him.

I've got an idea! Vitali should come down to welterweight. He'd clean up the division!

Let me ask you a question p4pbest? Who in boxing has the best chance of tearing off an opponent's ear in the ring? It certainly isn't Williams. Williams should have given Margarito the rematch when Margo wanted it. Williams might have been able to take him out then. But, Margorito has redefined himself. He is the scariest man in boxing, until proven otherwise. But, Mayweather can change everything if he wants to.

so let me get this straight...you're saying its fair for a guy who naturally walks around 160+ to call out guys who walk around at 145?

I still believe you should not weigh more than 10 pounds over your fighting weight on fight night. Hands down, end of story.

The average walk around weight for a welter should be 160.

13 pounds gives you a definite size to work with, but nothing too insane as to where ANY fighter would need to do anything severe or detrimental to their health to make the weight.

A fighter should fight a division or two BELOW their natural weight.

I.E Welterweight 147 should weigh AT the MOST 160.
Lightweight 135 should walk around AT THE MOST 147.

    Point should be crystal clear.

I'm saying it's fair for a guy who has fought welterweight his whole career to call out other welterweights.

What part of that is so hard to understand? Before you answer, read the first sentence slowly, twice.

Well, you should go protest the governing bodies of boxing then. Because they seem to have it figured a different way.
