Faceplant. Wilder is even more of an athletic freak than any other HW ive ever seen, hes just technically so far off the mark it takes the shine off.

Ortiz is so old that he's dead tired after 8 rounds. If Dimitrenko or Fury are still there in round 8 they would TKO gramps.

Pirog and Martinez have really strange styles to me. Pirog seems to combine two opposite styles seamlessly? And Martinez when he used to fight just with his hands down, which is commonly a showboat but that was just his STYLE. Super weird.

You’re right, bud - I stand corrected; there was nothing special about James. He was an average fighter doing average things against average fighters :ohno
Seriously, you’re saying Floyd’s pot-shotting, split decision over a faded de la Hoya, 24lbs over where he turned pro, over Toney knocking out a faded Holyfield with a body shot, 65lbs over the weight class he turned pro at?
Floyd was a special fighter; God given talent, an incredible ring IQ and a Spartan discipline...he was also a cherry picker who knew when to fight the right guys.
James was an old school OG with ZFG. He’d fight anyone at any time and more times than not win. :deal:

For years i maintained that Pirog was not as great as people made him out to be, and i still somewhat stand by it.

But what made him so effective was the feinting and constant change in guard.
He was always did something. One moment he had his hands up high in a peek a boo stance and next thing you know it'ś the Philly shell. And while transitioning he would probe with the lead hand and constantly move his head.
That made his opponents think quite a lot.

But Ishida, for me, exposed all of Pirog's weaknesses. He always seems to fight in one gear. Ishida gave him absolute hell and was able to walk him down quite often.

I agree he's overrated because most people have only seen one fight of his and it was a REALLY good performance. So people lose perspective. I don't really agree with you on the Ishida bit though. Maybe you're right because I haven't seen this fight since it aired but I don't really recall it being "hell" as you put it? From what I remember it was a fairly unimpressive performance but pretty dominant?

Pirog won the rounds. But Ishida was always there.

Roy Jones, PBF, Pac, Loma, Chocolatito and Inoue.
I surprise nobody mention Choco, I have never seen combination punching, parrying offensive and defensive master in today’s scene. He is a throwback fighter.

In terms of unique talents (not in any order although I put RJJ at the top) :
Roy Jones, Floyd, Pernell Whittaker, Loma, Naseem Hamed. Manny Pacquiao also, although not sure if he has a unique talent per se but is such a beast and mesmerising whirlwind of a fighter that I can't not name him here.

    Wilder - LMFAO. WTF?
Khan - no, no, no. He has really fast hands. But that's it. He's not really that skilled or boxing clever.

I'm a Wilder hater but I think he is a special talent, he started boxing at 21 I think and what he managed to achieve is incredible considering his very very late start, if he had boxed from the age of 10, he'd be one of the best heavies ever.

The mere shadow of Pernell Whitaker was still going. He wasn't exactly in Kenneth from the STARS Bravo Team condition but passed his prime. He managed to give Oscar De La Hoya a lot of trouble. Oscar laughing at Whitaker's dancing always cracks me up. He's like the fan that prepared to meet his idol, and now his idol is entertaining him. Oscar couldn't hide his delight.

    Pernell Whitaker is the guy.
