I agree about Sanchez being the #1 ATG Mexican but Finito is a tad bit overrated on here though. He was just a beneficiary of a very weak division.

Even as a Marquez fan who thinks he's greatly talented, it just seems like unless it is in some way tied to Mayquiao or Pacweather, the average poster here simply hasn't seen much boxing.

Actually, just calling him the most talented Mexican fighter ever does him a disservice because it forces the most knowledgeable posters to come in and talk about other fighters instead. Why not say, instead, "JMM, a great talent".

On the contrary. Finito Lopez is one of the most underrated fighters period. It's not his fault when he was born. Perhaps he could've moved up, but he has everything else. You really need to watch him a lot to appreciate him and his subtlties. One of the most all round and technically sound fighters ever! A victim of history rather then a beneficiary.

I can make the same case for Caulderon if he had stayed at strawweight. He very virtually untouchable at the weight and was undersized too.

Oh, c'mon. We can make a case for anyone, but we all have eyes.

I'm telling you Lopez is a true victim of history. The guy was special. Overrated and Ricardo Lopez do not belong in the same sentance and it's kind of ironic because no one really ever mentions him. He's not even popular among the mexicans.

I wish he'd moved up to maybe face Carbajol and people like that, but dominating your division, longevity and a complete fight game is enough for me. If he was in a different division he would be considered right up there and i mean up there with the greatest of the greats.

He had everything. Speed, variety, smarts, KO power with either hand, footwork, ring generalship. Just the complete package and as i say someone who's a victim of circumstance.

Please watch and study him. :good

Yes finito, an incredible fighter but often neglected cause he fought at 105. Had he fought at a higher weight then people won't be neglecting this great champion.
