How did you all score it ?

At the time of Muhammad stopping his man in the fifteenth,I had him pretty clearly in front, though it was, physically,a tough one for him.

    I had it very close.

I thought Bonavena should have gotten the knockdown call.

I also thought Ali should have been made to return to a neutral corner after the KDs.

1 shouldn't Xpect n Ali opponent 2 benefit from a long count , should he ? such a benefit is only reserved 4 "Boxing"'s most priviledged darlings : Gene Tunney , Walker Smith Jr. . Ali himself benefited from a similar phenomenon in n Xtended break between rds with d benefit of smelling slats in it . But when n Ali opponent goes down , he should Xpect a short count .. as was d case with George Foreman as well .

franks wrong about Bonavena "winning" if that's what he really thinks..instead, it was a gallant effort from Ringo in a fight he couldn't possibly win, but he gave it his best.

I agree with this..Ali was given the benefit of a doubt way too often in his career.

As I'm always saying about Bonavena,Cobra,he may not have been a world beater, but he'd always give the world's best a good fight.

did not think so , just think that he deserved d same rules that every1 else does . Just another bought referee .
Honestly i only watched it once so far , so i might change my mind if i'll rewatch it or score it .

Depending on your definition of "world's best" .
I doubt if i'd consider Zora Folley , especially by d time he beat Bonavena as a world beater , but , it's open 2 definition and arbitrary numerics .

I was talking, mainly, about hypothetical fights,Frank. Oscar would have been a rugged opponent for most of the champs of the past. Obviously I don't think he'd actually have beaten that many though.

Ali felt like it was a close fight IMO......otherwise, he wouldn't have stood over Oscar trying to end the fight.

Wonder if Ali would have got the Frazier fight next.....if he had lost?

The FOTC would n't have taken place. We'd have had Frazier-Bonavena III instead. Does n't have quite the same ring to it,does it ?

Yeah. Ali's career is wrought with gifts and gimmie's because everyone back then loved him so much.

The ref did a poor job of keeping control. He should have made Ali go to a netural corner. I not saying Bonavena would have won had Ali went to a corner, he still would have lost, but this was Ali at his worse in dirty fighting imo.

This was not longer the Jack Dempsey era. Ali should have lost a point or so perhaps. Or no count.
