still even without the 10-8 10th round I had Murray winning the fight by 1 point due to the knockdown in the 8th.

Thanks for that. I think maybe what was thinking of was when there are multiple knockdowns in one round, or the knocked down fighter still dominated the round. I know there is some room for discretion there.

I still reckon there have been instances of judges not going along with what the ref decided regarding knock downs (and maybe even point deductions). I realise they're not allowed to do it, but we've seen some very strange things allowed in the past...

I don't like that rule. It takes away the credit that should be given to Khan for staying on his feet.

Which is fine, but then all you need to get a draw is an extra round for Martinez. There were only a couple of rounds where Murray clearly won. Most were swing rounds where it came down to what you preferred.

You don't deserve credit just for being tough! He was getting hit, badly hurt, and spent the rest of the round in retreat and getting battered around the ring. If there was ever a better example of a 10-8 without a knockdown, I can't think of it.

 rewatched it with blinkers on... It was a close fight and the home fighter won. Martinez was hitting a hell off a lot of glove all night would you not agree?

A fighter gets an advantage from taking a knee. He is punished for that by having a point taken away.

If Khan has been bashed up exactly the same and taken a knee in the last 5 secs, it would have still been 10-8.

It's not 100%, which is why it's very rare you give them out. But "staying on your feet" isn't one of the four scoring criteria.

I don't think a fighter should be rewarded for staying on there feet, just don't think a fighter should punished if they manage to stay up.
