Glad to see so many fans are optimistic about the next 2 years going forward in the MW division but as I said there are a few so so prospects coming through no on to get enthusiastic about except maybe Lara moving up in a few years.

The MW Division is in a sad state since the mid to late 90's.

    good morning , sir !

was it any better in hopkins/tito/taylor's days ?

when blown up lightweights and welterweights were on the top of it ?

its does suck....who cares about how its shaping up. pavlik has fought some horrible opponents since beating taylor, sturm brings new meaning to fighting CANS, Mundine is fighting no name after no name.... sylvester is the IBF champ...and YAWN btw

people were talking about how great the heavyweight division was shaping up..and it still sucks...

A list of really unremarkable fighters. Christ, Castillejo was 40 years old, and never that great to begin with. Alright, these guys aren't 'stiffs', but there is nothing exceptional about them whatsoever. German fighters have a certain 'Joe Calzaghe-esq' mentality...

    Sturm beat
    Castillejo
    Griffin two times
    Sylvester
    Ghevor
to win and defend his titles. All "cans" yeah, right. In between he fought some bums but where is the problem with that when otherwise he beat the best outside of Abraham and Pavlik - which he wanted both but his promoter prevented this from happen.

Castillejo had the title, Griffin was the mandatory and he gave him a rematch when he couldn´t beat him the first time around. Sylvester is now IBF champ, Ghevor had a very good showing against Abraham, I even think he was ahead on the cards before getting KOed and he is still ranked highly. Outside of Pavlik and Abraham those are/were the best the division had to offer. But yeah, none of them is a "name" in America so it does not matter.

He drew with Griffin in their first fight. And who the **** is Griffin by the way. Slyvester and Ghevor are good wins though, again I say though, nothing remarkable.

Despite the postive spin you've put on those wins, I hear what you're saying.

Sturm defended his MW title against Castillejo, Griffin, Sylvester and Gevor.
Pavlik defended his MW title against Lockett, Rubio, Espino and Martinez.
Sturms opposition hammers the **** out of Pavliks opposition (with the exception of Martinez, who ofcourse whupped Pavlik).

The middleweight division is one of the weakest in boxing right now and has been that way for a few years atleast. The heavyweight division gets a lot of flack for being a poor division but it is better than the middleweights right now. I do agree with most that there are some nice prospects out there and when they emerge and a few jr middleweights move up it could be a solid division again but we're talking a year or two at the earliest.

You can't blame Sturm for staying in Germany after the shameless jobbing against Oscar.

He beat him in the rematch clearly. And Griffin was the best American mw outside Taylor and Pavlik. Where did I say it is something remarkable? I just said those guys are no stiffs. Pavlik´s reign was worse for example and while he got some critic for it, it´s nowhere near the **** Sturm get´s for his. That´s just biased bs.

Exactly. The one thing middleweight has that another division like light heavyweight doesn't is a good group of exciting prospects (soon to be contenders) on the horizon that can make for a number of exciting matchups. The only thing they don't have yet is the seasoning and exposure, but in another year or two, things are really going to be heating up at 160.

LHWT has Cloud and Pascal and Dawson but the division still is kind of still owned by an old guard
