Some Floydettes would indeed argue that ...

Thats Canelo now. He grew. Back when he fought Mayweather and a bit before then he had no trouble making those weights. He never weighed in over 154 before he fought Mayweather although he obviously rehydrated to like 165-170lb on the night

How was he ineffective ? Because Mayweather shut him down ? The facts are there on boxrec for you to take a look. Canelo before the Mayweather fight had never weighed in at over 154 and had no trouble making 151 against Hatton and even made 153 right before the Mayweather fight no problem. He was not drained and you realize he weighed 166 on fight night right ? You completely threw that fact under the rug like everyone. Therfor Canelo on the night was not affected at all due to the catchweight. Canelo being weighed drained in the ring is a complete myth. Floyd completely outboxed and beat a super middleweight. Canelo himself said Floyd was too good

    Give him his credit

Show me a fight where Canelo weighed over 154 before he fought Mayweather since Mayweather "drained him". Back up your claims

I give Floyd credit for defeating a weight drained version of Canelo.

Hey I didn't stipulate 152, Floyd did. Ask him.

Yet he still weighed 165 on fight night against Mayweather and still lost.

I can't really agree with you here and I often do find myself agreeing with you.

Canelo is a good win for Mayweather but he didn't beat prime Canelo. That Canelo back then regardless of the weight struggled to beat Trout and Lara that's the level of fighter Mayweather beat back then.

Stylistically yes Mayweather is horrible for Canelo and always will be but fact is he never beat this bigger, prime version, you can't be accredited with hypothetical wins only the wins you actually have earned.

But I agree if they were the same weight Mayweather would beat him, probably out class him.

Weight drained or not Canelo is a completely different fighter than he was back then, and that's not a excuse it's the true unless you are completely blind.

So? Makes no difference to the fact he was restricted in weight.

He has way less output than he did when at lower weights

    And bad knees

Floyd could still steal rounds off Clenelo

Pretty sure Mayweather wasn't in his prime either. Mayweather didn't beat a prime Canelo but im not giving Mayweather credit for beating a prime Canelo. Im giving Mayweather full credit for beating and schooling a champion at 154 despite being outsized by 15 pounds yet people still can't even do that and come up with excuses.

He would not beat current Canelo but thats purely on size. Canelo is like 180 on fight night, he simply wouldn't be able to make 152. Not so much because Canelo is a "completely different fighter". you've seen it yourself, Canelo looked flatfooted as hell against overrated Billy Joe Saunders and was missing a LOT although he eventually timed him. Canelo still struggles with that style. To me he's certainly improved a lot but he's not a completely different fighter like he's made out to be.

By 2 pounds lol. Did it affect him though ? Pretty sure it didn't and he outsized Mayweather by 15 pounds anyway
