The myth of GGG

People getting too emotional, it's simple:

GGG clearly looks like a GREAT fighter, hence the hype.
GGG hasn't faced very good, let alone great opposition, hence why he cannot be considered 'great' in terms of resume.

The term 'Great' is lost in translation, here.

GGG hasn't had the opportunity to unify the belts at 160lbs, and people are hounding him for not moving up and 'daring to be great' when he hasn't even achieved his first goal yet. Yes, it was a stupid move saying he'd face Chavez Jr and Froch at 168lbs but will force Ward to 164lbs, but beyond that, he still is yet to have a great run as a middleweight.

 

Shane and Tito fought Oscar cos he was where the $s were at. Canelo is where the $s are for GGG, though I'm not holding out much hope of that one any more. Myself I'd rather he went up an tried to get one of the SMW strapholders in the ring, but I ain't losing sleep over it. Who do you want him to fight?

He's trying to fight the guy that beat Lara which gets more kudos from me than a fight with Lara himself. I'm not opposed to him fighting Lara either by any means but I'm not going to entertain the idea that Canelo is B rated either, that's ridiculous.

As for his social media calls...I mean, the last one I saw was after the Wade fight was announced and I think those tweets have been deleted anyway. Just a load of stuff about him being screwed by judges or something when I last looked (which was probably a few weeks back(

 

GGG is a bum killer. In the history of boxing that isn't going to stand the test of time.
