A lot of the suspicion on Mayweathers part of why he thinks Manny might be using is the way he has been knocking people out as he has moved up in weight. But is this really the case.

    Vs Diaz

Manny spent nine rounds hitting Diaz with nearly everything he had before Diaz fell. Diaz said afterward it was more the speed than the power that he could not cope with.

    Vs Oscar

Another one sided fight. Oscar quit on his stool at the end of the eigth but was never down or even looked closed to it despite the beating he took.

    Vs Cotto

Another one sided beating after round four but the ref stopped it with Cotto still on his feet.

    Vs Clottey

Barely moved him over the entire twelve rounds.

    Vs Mosley

    Mosley goes the distance.

    Vs Margarito

About as bad a one sided beating as you will see but Margarito was never down. Mosley stopped Margarito in nine in a equally as one sided fight.

    Vs Marquez

The only fight of the trilogy that Marquez did not go down in.

    Vs Hatton

The one fight that stands out huge one punch KO.

So has he really carried his power up through the weight classes?

He doesn't really have KO power at the higher weights but then he's a smaller guy so that's expected

He can easily stop someone while stunned/ on accumulation though

Valero hit harder than Pac but both guys have over rated power

Its the speed & accumulation of their punches that stops fights, not big 1 shot knockouts

but it is impressive that a former 105lb'er is capable of dropping welterweights

To me is clear & obvious, the evidence is on youtube.

Watching them both fight & train Valero hit harder. He broke bags & kicked world class guys out of their own gyms.

Accounts of guys who sparred with them both all say the same thing, Valero was a beast.

Not really. Valero's power is clearly overrated, mainly due to his record. Then you take in to account the level of opposition both fought, Pacquiao's very, very clearly at a higher level. Now, just because Pacquiao had fought at a higher level doesn't mean he was in with people who had better chins, but let's be honest, he was quite clearly in with people with better chins and punch resistance.

Speed is a great attribute, but it's not always 'speed kills' like someone has said in this thread. You can be as fast as Khan, yet still not put a dent in anyone. Pacquiao has raw/explosive power that Valero wished he had.

Put Valero in with Hatton at 140lbs? Does Valero wipe him out? I highly doubt it.
Put Valero in with a middleweight Margarito, does Valero have him rocking and hurt on more than one occasion? No. Does he break Margarito's orbital bone? No.

Obviously my answers to my own questions are assumptions, but let's be realistic. It just wouldn't happen.

In terms of the accounts in sparring. Valero was a nutter, he no doubt went all out to hurt anyone he could, in a bout, in sparring, or in real life. Whereas, Pacquiao treats sparring as what it is supposed to be, sparring, working on new things, working on the gameplan. A very big difference in the two.

Valero is unbelievably overrated on this forum, mainly his power due to his record. No one even knows whether his power could carry up weight classes (and never will) yet I've heard people claim he would knock out WW's. :-(

    Manny power is true.

Breaking bones and knocking out men who are two / three weights naturally bigger .

Valero was beating cab drivers , put him in their with Cotto and he doesnt break an egg.

I also think that even a shot Hatton wouldnt be in trouble.

I hear ya man, KO one glass jaw doesn't mean you are the next Tyson. But unfortunately your argument will fall on deaf ears because ESB is one giant sandbox with a lot of heads buried in it.

One big power shot does not mess up faces, its volume. Two words, Paulie Malignaggi.

Forget facts though, who wants that. Pac cherry picks leftover bums, drains fighters, slips money in judges pockets after the fight = roided up the wazzoo.

Of course hes power is overated. The only thing that really stands out with pacquiao or atleast used to stand out was amazing speed and brilliant in and out footwork.

At the lower weights he had alot more snap on hes punches.
