I never called anyone a bum. Hardly any of my favorite fighters are even of the US. I'm rooting for Calzaghe on this one dude. My critique of "nobodies" was actually geared for both Tyson and Hamed and anyone (DLH's rise was similar) who rises when competition isn't so great and slows down or hits a brick wall the moment every fight gets competitive. Damn, I was for Hatton in the Mayweather fight! Big difference is what if Hatton quit after Mayweather? Everyone would say he could have been great but when he hit the big stage he flopped and retired rather than making a comeback. It sounds to me like you've been letting the ESB boys get under your skin.

Barrera crashed the elites by beating Hamed...nice revisionist history.

Barrera was already a name, not elite yet. Hamed called out both Barrera and Morales. This was Hamed's stage too is all I'm saying. It was a crossover fight. The whole point of my posts was Hamed could have learned from the Barrera fight and come back a solid fighter. His future wasn't over. Everyone is acting like he was already an ATG on the decline. His elite status would have started had he made a comeback. Barrera would be at a good bargaining rate after loosing to Pac for a rematch. That's what Barrera or Morales would have done had they lost.

    :good

    At last some sense.

Good article though, Hamed is unbelievably underrated on this forum though. I don't think people realize just how talented he was and the americans never saw the best of him. He was on the decline a few fights before the Barrera one.

I still maintain a prime Hamed beats Barrera I don't care what anyone says.

Hamed was good. He hit very hard. His balance was poor and he had a physcolgical edge over most of his opponents. He could get away with not fighting orthodox except against Barerra who made him look more like a clown than a prince. If Wayne Mc Collough had been a puncher he would've knocked this clown out. Wayne to his credit gave Hamed a decent fight but came up short on the scorecards.

Huh..I never claimed that he was a myth. Far from it. That title was chosen because the article is AIMED at the myth most of the people who hate him have constructed over the years -- that he was a bum who just beat nobodies and was just useless at a high level.

He was far better than people give him credit for.

Yup! Objectivity vanishes the moment this fighters name is mentioned!
He beat a whole string of very good fighters before MAB and is one of the hardest punchers in history. i dont feel he's an atg, one level below perhaps.

I cant beleive some people think Mab is the first decent opponent he faced!:patsch
