I'm a huge Roy fan, but there's a serious misconception about how many PPV sales he can generate. Trinidad / Jones did great numbers, but the responsibility for that lies solely on Tito's shoulders. Roy fought prince Badi on PPV and garnered abysmal figures, and while I know noone gives a **** about Badi, Roy was never, ever in the same stratosphere as Trinidad or Hoya, who could fight badis all day and still put asses in the seats.

I don't know about you, but i've not heard of many people who regard Jones as a big PPV-seller. He simply never was.

i still regard him as one the most extra-ordinary fighters ever. sometimes it seemed a little too easy for him. despite the fact he wasn't as big draw ppv he still made lots of money.

The numbers for Jones/Trinidad had a lot to do with both fighters. I tuned in because I really thought it would be the last hurrah for both men.

He is not as big as those guys (DLH and Trinidad). Very ver few fighters ever reach those levels. He was definatly above hopkins who for some ridiculous reason thought he deserved a 50/50 split.

Don't know about this statement if you're basing it on the the Badi fight. RJJ vs Badi had little promotion (b/c wasn't it some small co maybe even Rjj's co putting on the ppv) and not many had heard of Badi and RJJ was coming off two bad losses. Furthermore, trinidad and hoya don't fight Badi types on PPV. Look at ODLH, he fought Forbes (who has a higher profile than Badi) and that's on basic cable.

so, who do you think would do bigger numbers...hypotheically. Joe C VS Tito, or Joe C vs Jones Jr.

Bull****. Jones had just as much to do with the Trinidad fight being as big as it was. Look up the numbers for Jones/Ruiz, because it certainly wasn't Ruiz wwho made that fight.

Both of these fights will do great numbers simply becuase of the three names you have there, However if you pitched Trinidad vs Miranda, against a fight between lets say Jones Jr vs Joe Calzaghe I think Trinidad vs Miranda will do bigger numbers.

At that time i was very mad at Roy for not accepting it,now i realize a 60/40 split was generous to Hopkins.Roy was the number 1 fighter at that moment.
