Pound for pound, per capita blah blah blah.

No one but Puerto Ricans take your fighters all that seriously. You guys have to argue to death, just to be able to sleep at night and make yourselves relevant.

Mexicans get their respect in the ring, gaining a reputation as champions with an iron chin. We didn't have to try and win an internet argument to convince people of this. Mexicans don't have to desperately defend their fighters like P.R.s do.

lol still laughing @ the glass jaw threads about your fighters.

Lets not go overboard either Isal.

Mexico holds the edge in big fight scenarios, but plenty of those Puerto Ricans turned in great performances against Mexicans.

Off the top of my head Wilfredo Benitez turned in an absolute gem and painted a masterpiece against the great Roberto Duran no less.
    Duran's father is Mexican.

Wilfred Benitez came out on top in one of the greatest fights between a Mexican and Puerto Rican. An epic classic back and fourth battle of wills against Lupe Pintor. What a fight, Jesus Christ what a War! :happy

Trinidad never lost to a Mexican, in fact he destroyed an undefeated "Yory Boy" Campas, and then made "Chicken" Delahoya run for his life. :deal

Lets just give the Puerto Rican fighter its due merits. I have nothing but respect for the greats Puerto Rico has produced! :bbb

Bring Don King in here to yell, "Puerto Rico Puerto Rico!":yep

  3. I acknowledge that Mexico has had a few good champs (not a fan of the face first macho **** but hey...) You fool nobody with that PR glass jaw/Mexican Iron Jaw bull****...

All I have to do is talk to Yory Boy, Ponce De Leon, Luis Ramirez just to name a few, and I will leave out the 18 Mexicans that fell victim to Gomez...and ask them how it felt to be KTFO against a PR.

Montiel? Find ONE rican who got KTFO, almost died and tried to ride a bicycle while laying on his back.

Cut back on the glass jaw nonsense kids... cuz getting KTFO is a lot more heroic than sitting on your stool and saying No Mas ala Chavez, DLH and the great glass ass Morales.

  4. Sad but true Wilfredo Gomez beat more Mexicans singlehandedly than the entire list of Mexican fighters you mentioned happened to beat PR fighters.

He has like 20 Illegal Aliens on his resume... All of them KTFO and dragged out of the ring. Legend has it, they were drunk for 4 days after getting KTFO.

    Popcorn...

yea gomez was a beast against the second rate mexican fighters, but against the best mexican fighters, he got embarrassed. :yep:deal:hat

nothing wrong with being second best plaster. although recently, the mexicans have increased the gap exponentially between them and the ricans while the flips aren't too far behind the ricans at this point.

No self respecting boxing fan would ever agree with that BS.

And the fact that some of you Ricans are bringing up names like Campas, Deleon and other Mexican fighters not worthy of even being considered MEXICAN ATGs makes you look very desperate.

You forgot to add how many Boxing gyms and Wold Class Boxing trainers can be found in certain areas, P.R. and the U.S. probably have hundreds of gyms with top quality trainers and great programs, while China, or India probably don't have much in comparison, and it shows in Boxing History, PR. with just under 3 million residents in the island and over 4 in the U.S. have had far more top fighters than China and India (population 2,557,543,422 37% of the WORLD POPULATION), as you can see, what truly matter is, what area of the world supports the sport more, PR. and the U.S. have a great Boxing history, and China and India don'y have much. Maybe you should look more into this, and make sure to mention it. It's not as if PRicans or Mexican are naturally born as top Boxers, they must get the right guidance and training to get there.

Send all top trainers to China and India put up some good Boxing gyms, and in a few years from now watch how China and India rise in the ranking and if no more great trainers are left in PR and Mexico, watch how Boxing in those areas goes down.

Gomez vs. Pintor was a war though. It's amazing to see Gomez there, obviously an elite ATG fighter, and then watch how Salvador Sanchez managed to pick him apart from one end of the ring to the other.

One thing that Mexican fighter have to be given credit for is the numerous times they've had to go fight a Championship fight in Puerto Rico as compared to the times Boricua fighters have gone to Mexico for a Championship fight.

    Benitez vs Palomino
    Gomez vs Zarate
    Camacho vs Limon
    Rosario vs Ramirez I
    Rosario vs Ramirez II
    JuanMa vs Salido I
    JuanMa vs Salido II
    Calderon vs Casarez I
    Calderon vs Casarez II
    Calderon vs Segura

these are some I can think of, Then I think of Puerto Ricans who have gone to Mexico for a Championship belt and think of

    Calderon vs Segura II
    Sixto Escobar vs Juan Zurita
    Cintron vs Canelo Alvarez

Some credit has to be given to those fighters that step into their opponents backyard.
